So I made a thread awhile back asking if anyone had any experience taking the LSAT and I can't find it on my tapatalk app so I am making a new one. There was a poster who said I should take a prep course well he was right. I was completely unprepared and the section I thought I would struggle at the most(logic games) I actually did the best at. So I am having to retake it because I am nowhere near happy with my score. Has anyone here taken the Kaplan LSAT prep course? It's 1400 so I want to know ill be getting my money's worth. Thanks guys.
Test isn't until June 10. So I am going to have to sit an entire year because most law schools don't accept spring enrollees.
That's not even the expensive one. There is a 36 hour one on one class that is 3600. It's your own personal tutor basically. My law school advisor/consultant charges 300 an hour(I get the friend discount lol). To take the test cost 160 each time and only one company administers it, the LSAC. They truly have a monopoly. To apply to ANY law school you must subscribe to their CAS service which is 155 a year. They keep records of all your recommendations, transcripts, and personal statement. So any law school can request all this info through them and you don't have to send it in. It truly is a massive financial commitment.
Are you going to defend Rob Bironas in a court of law when he's sued for the mild heart attack he might give fans when he misses his next field goal?
I actually teach for Kaplan and have taught for other companies in the past. Kaplan's course is worth the investment IF you are going to pay attention in class AND do all the homework. If you expect to just sit in a classroom and let someone lecture you into a higher score, not only should you not bother with a Kaplan course, you should not bother with law school period. Also, fire your "law school advisor/consultant." I've never heard of anything more useless in my entire life. I cannot imagine how someone could possibly deliver $300/hour worth of value just advising you on law school applications. Just get a couple friends in law school/the legal profession to look over your writing sample and save your money for living expenses.
In case you missed it, BTW, Kaplan has a Higher Score Guarantee on their courses: if you do all the homework and attend all the classes, they guarantee you'll get a better score on the actual test than you do on your first Diagnostic test.
Thanks for the response. I like to e held accountable so if I put out 1400 for tje Kaplan course then I'm going to do the work. I self studied the first and didn't do that well. It's something that I had a hard time teaching myself. As for my law school consultant, he is really good at what he does. He has contacts at law schools across the country and has been a law school administrator at Vanderbilt, Wash U, and Colorado until he started his own business. His contacts can come in really handy but like I said, I don't pay for it because we are friends. The Kaplan course is looking like the most logical one for me considering it can be made in 3 payments and not all together.
