Here's where I'm coming from, pay attention.

You've got to look at the bigger picture (2012 & 2013). The reason you have to think beyond this year is because again like last year, we'll be lucky to find anyone fit to start at FS for us this coming offseason. It would also be irresponsible of our front office to only look at whats right in front of them business wise, so they look at future years too.

Ok back to football. We're stuck with this guy because the talent out there is so thin.

No one would willingly fork over $6.2M in 2012 for 1 single year from Michael Griffin, and then $13.6M in 2013 (because as sad as it may sound, Griffin might just be the best FS available to us in 2013) for a total of close to $20M over those seasons.

Doing it the way our front office did it, they saved themselves $5M over the course of 2 years. IMO they knew he was only alright and was in no way worth $10M/yr.

Does that make sense to you? Me saying he's not worth $6.2 this year really means he's not worth $10M/2yr because thats what he'd end up getting if we franchised him in 2012, and are then again forced to franchise him in 2013. After you're franchised, the price of your contract goes up 120% to the team that franchised you the year before (unless they reach a long term deal).

The front office will keep this guy around til March 2014. mark my words, bookmark this post. That's how his career in TN ends, by getting cut after next season.

It makes sense I suppose. I just don't agree with it. Going at this from the angle of "Griffin is the absolute best we can do at the FS position for the next two years" is straight up LOSER mentality. And a shining example of what is wrong with this front office. Idiots.

If you assume a terrible, just god awful player is honestly the best you can do for the next TWO seasons then you are extremely incompetent and/or have a very poor confidence in your ability to do your job.

Oh you'd be right to say thats straight up LOSER mentality at its finest, but thats the only explanation that makes sense. They were covering their butts in case no one better comes along.

I mean they have the cap room now and next year to blow, so they did.

I agree that he's awful and needs to be replaced, but in the events no one better is available, we have someone, who at one point was pretty good.

That deal and that type of logic is what is going to cost the Front Office THEIR jobs. Griffin, Amano stay as long as they do. If they turn around and cut a player they extended they are admitting they goofed. It's a career suicide to do so.

Griffin is most likely gone after the new GM gets settled in.

If they have that kind of cap room they should have made offers to Wells and/or Myers too sweet to pass up. But they kept on chugging with their man Amano.

I agree with you on that. I bet the FO would even agree with that at this point.

It's not suicide, it's saving your job in this case.

Say Ruston and Munch do get fired.... What is the next guy in going to do a week into the job? He's going to unload the big contracts that don't make sense, just like they did in Oakland, just like they do everywhere.

If I'm Ruston I just admit I was wrong and go about business. Show you care more about the team than yourself Ruston and cut the shi**y players.

I guess. I just know how this organization operates. I can't see any scenario where Griffin is NOT starting for us in 2013. We paid him. He will start. Titans 101.

And IMO that's handicapping your team right off the bat. Just another piece to the puzzle of our ineptness and failure as an NFL franchise. And it isn't getting any better anytime soon unless we clean house from top to bottom.

This front office AND coaching staff have been colossal failures. It blows my mind that there are still fans who want to wallow in this mess for even a second longer.

I think you are wrong about Wright. I'm extremely excited about his future and think the Titans nailed the draft pick.

Now about the exodus of PSL, you've sort of been touting this for multiple years now almost as if YOU WANT the Titans to have a major decline in overall fandom. Why is that? Why do you want the franchise to decline to the point that is not as viable a money maker in Nashville as it was before?

And here is the thing I've realized this year... opposing fans LOVE to travel to Nashville. All you hear is how much fun Nashville is, how nice all the people are, and how they will definitely be coming back. So even if PSLs decline, I still don't see much problem in the Titans selling out or filling the lower level of the stadium. It will just be with more opposing fans.
