Former Colts offensive coordinator Tom Moore has been hired by the Titans to assist with the team’s offense the rest of the season.

Moore, who coordinated the Colts high-flying offense for 12 years, was at Baptist Sports Park on Thursday, and attended practice.

Munchak said Moore doesn’t have a title, but he’ll work with the team the rest of the season.

“He’ll be a resource for the staff,’’ Munchak said of Moore. “A guy who has spent 38 years in the NFL. He has been a part of every type of offense. … This was his first day to meet the players and get a feel for what we are doing. We’ll just take it day by day and I’m sure he’ll be a good fit for all of us.”

Moore served as offensive coordinator for the Colts during quarterback Peyton Manning’s days with the team. Moore coached the Colts under head coaches Jim Mora, Tony Dungy and Jim Caldwell. He oversaw the development of quarterback Peyton Manning. He most recently served as a consultant with the New York Jets.

Munchak said when he promoted quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains to offensive coordinator after firing Chris Palmer on Monday, he knew the team might need additional help, so he called on the 74-year-old Moore.

Munchak also talked to Moore while putting his staff together after being hired in 2011.

“We thought because we did need a helping hand, he’d be a great fit for that,’’ Munchak said. “He’ll be a helping hand in a lot of ways and he has a lot of things he can add. He has a lot of experience in general. No real title, he’ll just help us as an offensive assistant.”

Why the hell didn't he come here last year?! He was Munch's first pick for OC and he turned us down. A year and a half later here he is. Makes no sense.

I seriously wanted him to join the Titans staff over a year ago and was disappointed to hear he went to the Jets. I hope he hasn't been working with the Jets recently, because that is a bad team. I thought we had problems, but we don't have problems like the Jest..
