Lots of finger-pointing going on when, IMO, it's insane to think replacing ONE person will fix anything. Everyone from Bud on down share in what is the lowest point of the franchise since the move to Tennessee.

Bud needs to spend some time looking in the mirror because he's ultimately accountable for his team. He's signed off on everything.

Is Munch accountable? Of course. It's his job. Is he totally responsible? No more than he should be given all the credit for every win the team has had. There's a lot of cogs in the machine and more than a few cracked yesterday.

Britt knows how to secure a football. He knew the Bears D were ball hawks. Lowry and the punt team knew the Bears special teams and allowed the block and a line-drive kick to the greatest returner in the game's history. Hasselbeck has no excuse for his ball right to Urlacher. It was a rookie brain-fart.

28-2. Game over. And it was due to four mistakes made by players who knew better.

The cure isn't going to be simple. It may mean a new coaching staff. It better mean some serious upgrades at a lot of positions. As much as I respect Bud for what he's done for the city, it's time for someone else to step in if it's blown up.

This is Bud Adam's team. He wants a money-making winner of a team. He's a successful businessman so the bottom line beats the emotional satisfaction of fielding a winner. That's the way it is. Losing your home stadium to visitors is a harbinger of PSL's and ticket sales plummeting if you don't inject some hope.

The closed competition for HC was a bad mistake made by Adams. Most likely it was highly supported by Reinfeldt. The personnel decisions by RW and him have been questionable- particuarly regarding the OL. I'm not buying that Manning had much at all to do with our inability to land some quality OL FA's. Not having an open competition for HC laid an incredibly shaky foundation to build upon. Quite simply, Munchak wasn't qualified to be a HC. Reinfeldt should have foreseen that "transitioning" Fisher out to "hand" the job to Munchak was NOT a strategy to pursue. He should have strongly recommended to Bud that the Fisher issue get resolved while there could be an open competition to acquire the most qualified person.

I appear to differ from you TJ on the level of responsibility and accountability that comes with GM's and HC's. Everything that happens in the organization may not be their fault, but IS their responsibility- that's why they get paid the big bucks. I agree here are a lot problems on multiple levels with the franchise right now and a single point fix is unlikely to create a turnaround. There have been signs for some time now that the franchise is dysfunctional- that's what us "bridge-jumpers" have been so motivated to point out on this board for months.

Bud and Munchak both have recognized that a significant number of paying fans are precariously close to closing their wallets. Bud made his statement to inject some hope in the fans. I find nothing wrong with any part of his statement. It is accurate and necessary in my opinion. It is what a good businessman would/should say. I partially like Munchak's statement where he stated he is ultimately (and completely) responsible. I didn't like him protecting his staff. He gave the impression he would rather lose his job than hold them accountable for lack of production. I think he should recommend that Gray be fired to Bud.

If we "clean house" at the end of the year I'd like to see Reinfeldt gone. I've never believed he is talented and the best he seems to be able to do is bring in some Seattle cast-offs. Ironic because he is one himself.

Agreed. I sometimes feel the team is managed from emotion and not common sense. I agree with the poster who stated that he wished Jimmy Johnson could be brought in to consult on the fix. If not Jimmy, then SOMEONE from the outside who can make the tough, but sensible decisions.

Bud certainly deserves blame for this too. However, Bud has put this team in a position to win Super Bowls before, and there are teams in the NFL right now in position to make the playoffs this year that have no more talent that the Titans imo. The fact that they are performing in an embarrassingly awful manner is on the coaches. Munchak was a bad hire. I hate that, because he's a long time Oiler/Titan, but it's a fact at this point. Munch and the coaches he hired to work under him have been a complete failure and must go.

If im bud Adams im getting rid of these damn coordinators, first off how the hell we cant score with weapons we have on offense, and the offense don't fit the skill set of locker, Palmer just put him in a offense. Now on defense we play the same three defense every damn week no wonder we are the worst defense in the league

I've been a PSL holder since we played at Vanderbilt. Every year all home games have been sold out. If the only criteria for having a successful franchise is making money, nothing will change, because 15 years of sold out seasons doesn't leave much room for improvement. The stadium improvements this year are nice, and it would be great to have had a winning season. In fact I predicted a 10-6 season, and into the playoffs. Just shows what I know!

Understood. He's in it to make $$$. But if he's putting people on notice (as he should) then he needs to consider his own role in the product he saw yesterday. He hired or signed off on everyone. I'm saying that, if Titans fans truly want a clean slate, they need to start at the top because he impacts everything.

If only making money is his goal, then giving lip service to it is all we can expect. It's time for Bud to hand over the reins.

Here's where I am coming from:

Belichick was fired from the Browns for being a bad coach. But he'll end up in the Hall of Fame for being a great coach. So, is he a bad coach or good? For me, the answer is somewhere in between because I feel coaching in ANY sport only has so much impact. Ultimately, it's the players who have to execute. Without Brady, I don't know if he's anything more than a .500 coach and probably not in the league.

I've taught college courses for years. The curriculum I cover is always the same. I might spend more time reviewing some aspects of it if I notice a student struggling or work with that student after class. I might try teaching something differently if I think it'll help but, eventually, the student has to want to learn the material and want to be successful. All the teaching in the world won't help those who either lack talent or desire.

So, when I have a student fail, is it my fault if I've done everything I could to prevent it? Am I accountable for that student's failure? Sure. But am I responsible?

I ask myself what I could have done better. I evaluate things. But where does the true responsibility lie?

And, on the other hand, when I have a classroom loaded with talented and dedicated students and they kick butt and all get A's and do excellent work, am I responsible? I get to push the curriculum to higher levels so they are even more prepared for upper-level courses but my success is directly tied to the talent and desire of my students.

Are coaches accountable? Of course. But their level of responsibility isn't nearly as high as many of here feel, IMO. Munch and Co preached how the Bears D go for the ball on every play ALL week long. Special teams coaches showed film on the Bears punt teams. The players did not execute. They either didn't have the talent, experience or desire.

Lovie Smith has made the playoffs once since his Super Bowl loss to the Colts in '06. In four of those five seasons, he's a .500 coach including last season's 8-8. So, is Smith now some great coach because the Bears are 7-1 now? Is he responsible for all those .500 or worse seasons?

He is no longer the GM. Webster is.

It starts from the VERY top on down.

Bud is a loser, and unfortunately has been since the Merger about 40 years ago. The Carolina Panthers have matched our highest point, and they've been around for only about 15 years.

A bad 10 years can be attributed to bad luck, coaching, etc. 40 years is something else.
