Fair point. But how long does that remain a valid excuse? And I don't buy that Gray and Palmer were the best available anymore than I buy Munch was the best available HC candidate.
I can't agree with this. Losing one player, aside from maybe a franchise QB, should never "destroy" a season.
You nailed it. Scheme has been a big part of the problem. Palmer implemented the scheme. Munch hired Palmer.
Eh, I guess? But it's not as if we were looking so hot before the injury happened either. I think it's projecting a bit to assume we'd be much better off as a team if Locker was never injured. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Locker fan. But the guy has 1 career win.

As much as the Colts suck, I respect the way they just cleaned house from top to bottom. I wish that's what we woulda done here and brought in Gruden

The guy has about as much emotion as a blank canvas. I've never really liked him, that blank stare.. just doesn't seem like he cares much. What did he do to earn this position? Seems more like an interim coach ie the Colts' situation rather than a full hire.

    I 100% can't wait for 3 main "coaches/coordinators" to GTFO.

True that. Lets see if he has the balls to fire him this off-season. We don't really have anyone that could replace him.. Frank Bush has been a DC, but coached the Texans into being one of the worst pass defenses on all time. Rocker has only been in the NFL for 2 years, both as a DL coach. Maxie hasn't done anything either, coached that terrible Cowboys secondary before Ryan. Same with Palmer, if he was to be fired, there is literally no better options we'd have to replace him.

    No argument there.

I thought both Palmer and Gray were 3rd chosen for each position. I thought they had asked other teams to talk with coordinators and got shot down several times. So to say he hand picked him is true, but not the full story either.

Fair point. But still just another excuse in my book. And all I hear are excuses from the Munch supporters.

The only thing anyone can ever come up with in his favor are excuses based on the timing of his hire, or "he overachieved last season" (at 9-7 while missing the playoffs BTW. Guess I just have a different idea of what overachieving means.)

well.. if you won't listen to these "excuses" from the munch supporters, then you're just as bad as them.. you're just on the other side of the ball...
this is a jerk-knee thread.... when the loss comes our way, we're quick to point fingers and call for heads... FO knows a lot more about the politics of the game... if they were just like us... we'd be the raiders.. always blowing up teams and fielding mediocre teams each year that has no potential for next year because they'll be gone anyways.... i swear... sometimes i really think that's what fans want... that and they play wayyy too much madden

My thing is, I feel there's much more evidence to suggest Munch is a bad HC than there is to suggest he's a good one. No one can really point to anything in his favor without an excuse related to the timing of his hire. That's telling IMO.

Not really. My feelings on Munch have been pretty much unwavering. I thought he was in over his head when he got the job. I thought he was in over his head at the end of last season. I thought he was in over his head at the beginning of this season. I think he's in over his head now.

Sure they know more. Doesn't mean they always make the right decisions. I would love to be wrong about Munch. No one wants to be the Raiders changing regimes every two years. People act as if there's no middle ground. As if you either just roll with the crappy coach you have until his contract is done or you wanna be the Raider. BS.

I want us to be willing to call a spade a spade and move on, rather than wallowing in mediocrity. Munch has given me zero reasons to have blind faith that he's going to be able to get the job done.

Can anyone here honestly say they think this guy can lead us to a championship? And if not, then what's the point.

IMO too much of this fanbase has been conditioned over the years to accept mediocrity. And mediocrity is putting it nicely when talking about this season.
