IMO Tomlin is as good as they get. He knows football, the players can relate to him, and he's got the wins to prove he's one of the best. He won't leave Pittsburgh for us though :(

 

Of 10 years coaching (not counting this season), he has only fielded winning teams in 3 years. Fisher has fielded 6 in 16 years. That's what I'm talking about.

 

You said Coughlin, Payton, Tomlin, McCarthy, and Harbaugh are "arguably" better than Fisher... as if it's up for debate.

They're clearly all superior to Fisher. Even the Fisher lovers would tell you that.

I want to know your reasoning for ALL of them... those are great coaches, and I'd kill to have any of them leading our team right now.

same records, same initials, same color teams LOL, they're both over rated by a lot.

 

Oh and same nicknames for RB duos.

 

Ok, so here is the "revised list" not saying I agree with them all but this is who should be unarguably better:

Bellicheck
McCarthy
Tomlin
Coughlin
Payton
Carrol

Still puts Fisher in the top 10. Unless you want to back up the argument for the other guys who have been mediocre to worse as better than Fish.

 

Pete Carrol? Huh? IDK about that one, but Fisher is in Chan Gailey territory.

 

Difference is that Fisher held a (near) .500 record for such a long time. He was so consistently average or mediocre with a few great years.

Fisher's first 24 games: 9-15

Let's not forget how new to all this Munchak is. Gotta cut him some slack regardless of whether or not he's the answer... for the record, I don't think he's the answer. Never thought he was. Didn't like the hiring from the beginning, but I've been back and forth on him since.
