Yeah I remember him at Virginia Tech. He was more of a pass rushing LB. He had the Peter Boulware hype on him coming out of college, but his game didn't translate in the NFL.

You could probably say that about everyone who is drafted every year.

Paul Williams. Hard to get much out of a WR who would rather be a CB :swear:

I remember someone made a list of FA LBs, it wasn't anything special but I liked E.J. Henderson. He has had success in this league and can be a leader on a team struggling to find voices. Hopefully he won't play that much or at all (b/c that would mean probably another injury) but would mainly serve to help mentor and hype-up the young guys.

The one thing I do know about him is that he is a tackling machine, which is of dire need right now. On his stat page, it has him listed for 9 seasons with the Vikings. 7 of those 9 he had over 75 tackles, and 4 of those he had 100+. Regarding the other two seasons, once he was injured early and the other time he was a rookie and probably didn't play much.

I know he has an injury history, so I did a little search and found some articles talking about him (dated 2012, but training camp days not recent):
    • (1) Tom Pelissero of ESPN1500.c0m reports that Henderson’s stepping up his efforts to find work. Henderson is “circulating word” that he’s 100 percent healthy and ready to get back on the field. Pelissero writes that it is unclear if Henderson would accept a one-year deal near the minimum — his salary last year was $4.7 million — but, like Benson, he probably doesn’t have much of a choice if he wants to keep playing.
    • (2) Henderson is entering his age-32 season and has seen his share of ups and downs since being drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the second round of the 2003 NFL draft.
Henderson (6'1, 245 lbs.) has played his entire nine-year career with the Vikings mostly as a starter and earned one Pro Bowl appearance.
    • (2) In recent seasons, we've seen Henderson's play decline after suffering a devastating knee injury that left him with a titanium rod in his leg.
    • (2) In 2011, Henderson was able to play all 16 games for the Vikings while collecting 110 tackles.
    • (2) Henderson was constantly taken out of third-down situations and had to have his snaps monitored to keep him fresh.
Despite the injury history, Henderson offers a leadership and experience that isn't easily found there are teams that have some concerns entering training camp.
I know its too late now and probably wouldn't have made a difference, but if he really is at 100% (pending physicals and a try-out and all that) I think I woulda gone with E.J.

Does anyone know if we at least looked at him?
(EDIT) - I just found the Xavier article and we did look at E.J among others, perhaps he was lying about being 100%, won't be the first time a player lies, or maybe he's too old/slow, IDK...

He's a desirable backup who hasn't been signed for over a year? You guys are unreal. Over hype everyone who dawns a Titans jersey..

He's an Hokie Alum though, so at least he has that going for him.

You look at a stat sheet and determine a guy sucks? You know nothing about anything. This is a backup player that several teams liked.

And he has been signed recently, just got cut this summer.

Actually I found it encouraging that he was a guy brought to camp with almost no chance to make the team. Basiically meaning he was cut as because of numbers rather than ability. Would rather take that than someone else's garbage.

I should have been more clear :D
