SawdustMan just brought up that he thinks new coaches would solve our problems. My response was; okay but who?

Good NFL coaches wont be fired so are there any coordinators out there right now that have stood out to you?

I honestly don't know if Munchak is the right guy, I mean I like him, and could work for a guy like him, but does he reach today's NFL players?

I feel almost like TN needs a high profile name to compete.

I don't see Munch being fired after two seasons, although I don't think he was ever the correct choice. You won't convince any coordinator to come to TN to be a coordinator either.

If we do first Munch, I'm looking at Perry Fewell, Ray Horton, Greg Manusky, Mike Nolan, and Hue Jackson. Again, I don't see Bud giving up on Munch after two seasons.

If anything Jerry Gray will get fired.

If Rex Ryan gets the can in New York, I'd be game for him as DC...we need some fire in this team....

Lots of NFL people have said Munchak is a great salesman. We can lure guys in, thats not the issue.

We'd go to a 3-4 front. But I doubt he's available this off season.

Well, I didn't mean it would "solve our problems". I was just saying that I blame them for our slow starts, which is what the thread was about. We certainly have other issues besides a dud coaching staff.

But based on what I've seen throughout the 20 games of his tenure, no I do not believe that Munchak is the long-term answer here. This team seems to have severe motivation/effort issues at times. To me, that's on coaching. This defense is by far the worst in the league. And I don't think we have the worst talent in the league. So again, that's on coaching IMO. Our offense hasn't been much better. Although I'm not quite as critical of Palmer as many others are.

As for coordinators around the league, IDK. I don't think I really know/have seen enough to give a very well-informed answer. I know of coordinators whose units are playing lights out. But as to whether they are HC material or not I can't say. However, there are people in our front office whose job it is to make those kind of judgements.

Of all the coordinators in the league, I'm sure there's at least one who could be a better HC than Mike Munchak. I didn't really know a whole lot about Sean Payton when he was hired. Or Mike McCarthy. Or Mike Tomlin. All have rings.

I'd take Ray Horton and Rex in a heartbeat.

And yet we ended up with Jerry Gray and a guy who was coaching in the UFL. LOL

I'm not looking for us to fire Munchak, just the coordinators.

That's because stupid ass Bud Adams waited so log to boot Fisher out, don't pretend like Munchak had many options.
