A wannabe analyst, basing his opinion on some FootballOutsiders ranking no less, and we're supposed to take his "article" seriously?

According to Stats.com Wright has 3 drops. Other receivers with 3 drops? Calvin Johnson. Wes Welker. I'll just go ahead and stop there.

I think the article sucks overall. But this little nugget at the end was perhaps the most hysterical.

I mean, WHAT?!?! That is just beyond ridiculous. Wright is pretty far down on the list of things wrong with this offense.

Regardless, it's dumb that this is even a topic 4 games into the guy's career. Especially when he's tied for most receiving TDs on the team and is 3rd in receiving yards. It's not like the guy's just been invisible out there. This offense as a whole has been terrible.

Maybe so. Way too early to tell one way or the other.

So we're supposed to take that away from him? Maybe don't count them?

Actually...we were trailing the Patriots the whole game, the Chargers killed us early, we actually beat the Lions, and the Texans had us beat when Locker went down. So pretty much what I'm getting at is...it doesn't matter when he scores we're probably playing from behind anyway.

    I think it does matter.

Against the Texans. I think he dropped like 3 or 4 strait (most of them easy too). They shut him down for 3 qtr's and mind you, we were still very much in the game coming out from halftime (and even a good part of the third - had the O moved the ball a bit who knows...)

He finally made some catches when the backup D came in and the game was completely outa reach - r u kidding....

    ---

I wrote this recently about Wright, still think its stands...

    WRIGHT
People who hated on Wright for his strait line speed I didn't pay attention to, I understand 'football fast' is not measured with a beeber. Hold aside the dropped passes till later (b/c they seem to be a reoccurring thing as it is) but he doesn't get separation like I thought he would.

If you watch elite receivers today they create windows for their QBs (Britt would do the same the times he's actually played). Whether that means 'finding a hole / sitting in the zone' or ' (legally) bumpin off a DB' while against 'man' running your route - they do it well and they do it regularly. Often for 'little WRs' because they can't really 'bump off' like bigger guys to get separation, its 'naturally' replaced with crisper routes (lower hips) and faster acceleration (quicker feet).

Now its still very early in his career but I'm worried he doesn't have the 'natural' abilities. And for what its worth against NFL defenses so far he doesn't 'look that fast' either - be it in an open field play, on a screen, or against man coverage....

All those college stats you here about, were they in large part due to him being a mainstay with RG3 and that crazy Baylor offense or is he a Stud just still getting used to life here? I really hope he proves me wrong, but I'm definitely worried.

I've been quiet on Wright and I won't label him as anything yet, still way to early, but this is I think a cause for concern.

    ---

B/R is garbage yes, the amount of jokes i've seen come out of that website, my goodness... But that doesn't mean they cant make a decent article once in a while. The 'Titans' 1st-Round Pick Kendall Wright Struggles to Break Through' hit the nail right on the head....

In fact 3 of the 4 pictures used are perfect and stuck with me from the actual game...

The drops are starting to concern me, but outside of that not much else.

We have not seen him create space, because he is not running the type of routes that you will see that in. All those short, quick passes will not allow you to create space. Its just trying to pick up a few yards and maybe break something big. What few times we have seen him in space, he seems to be about 50/50. Again, I think Wright is pretty low on our list of concerns on O. We still have CJ, the Oline, Britt, and Palmer to worry about. Give the guy some time, all you ever heard before the season started was how long it takes receivers to develop. Now we are worried about a guy who has only played 4 games.

Besides, we have a pretty good WR coach now. If it remains an issue, I am sure he will address it in the offseason/bye week.

If he scores it early when the game is still within reach, then it's not garbage time. If he score them in the fourth quarter when the game is already out of hand and the defense is playing soft, then that is garbage time. Which is exactly where is 2 tds have came from this year and a lot of his yards!
