Titans defensive end Scott Solomon has been fined $15,750 by the NFL for his low hit on Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford in Sunday’s game.

“I am going to try and correct that so it doesn’t happen next time,’’ Solomon said.

Titans guard Leroy Harris has been fined $10,000 for unnecessary roughness, after the league said he hit an opponent late.

Titans linebacker Akeem Ayers, meanwhile, was not fined for throwing Lions quarterback Shaun Hill to the ground late in the fourth quarter of the contest. His roughing the passer penalty wiped off a Tennessee interception and gave the Lions new life.

Ayers said he was just trying to make a play.

“I thought I got to (Hill) as soon as his arm went back,’’ Ayers said. “I guess it was when I threw him down afterward. But when you are in a game and getting hit all around, you are more reacting. That is a tough situation.”

NFL front office is on a power trip. I'm tired of all these stupid fines. It's football, let them beat the crap out of each other. Unless it's extremely unnecessary, then bring on the fines... otherwise?! wtf!!!

Where do you see this? What did the guy who hit our TE helmet to helmet get? Also - how about the hit on Washington a couple weeks back? Just curious for comparison.

Where do the fines go? Because I have a feeling they are handing out fines and lining their own pockets.

They should donate 100% of the fines to concusion research or high school football teams.

Fines go to charities and non-profits. Which ones, I'm not sure.

Come on, I can understand when it's intentional and vicious but these "in the heat of the moment" type of hits just goes with the territory when you're playing football.
