Average? I think if you want to be "technical" you have to have more than one carry for an average. One sole number can't be averaged...

You post like a younger man, with nothing held back. Admirable but mistaken.

According to the NFL stats books, Jamie Harper is averaging 3ypc right now. If he were to not get another carry for the rest of the year, it would go in the record books as a 3ypc season.

That wasn't really the point of my post though. I was just responding to Kaeotik's comment that "the run game gets worse with the other backs in there". 4 carries by the other backs to CJ's 33 is hardly a fair comparison. But if you insist on comparing, I just don't see how you say Harper did worse than C J. At least he ran forward.

    That's all I was saying.

I can't remember the last time I saw a Geronimo post that wasn't some variation of a Batman quote.

I see, so if it's on the internet (NFL.com) it's true? You do realize that it's a automated process for the "AVG" I'm sure, but still doesn't change the fact you can't average one number.

I'm not sure how you can say he did better either, in the first drive in the first quarter of the first game CJ has 3 runs for 10 yards. Heck even after his 2 very first carries of the year he got 6 yards and AVERAGED 3 YPC.

Just so we're clear, Harper's 3 yard run was the very last play of the game trying to run out the clock while behind by 21 points with 31 seconds left... Reynaud's been even worse so we'll leave him out of the discussion.

My only point is the run blocking scheme isn't working for anyone right now, besides Locker rolling out of the pocket.

Good lord, you're still arguing semantics while ignoring the larger point I'm trying to make. Just forget the average comment for minute. It was meant as a throwaway half-joking comment anyway (hence the winking smiley).

Just to make my intended point one final time:
    - Harper has 1 carry this season.
    - Reynaud has 3 carries this season.
    - CJ has 33 carries this season.

1 and 3 carries is not a large enough sample size to determine "the run game is even worse when the other backs are in there" or "the run blocking scheme isn't working for anyone right now". After someone besides CJ gets more than 1-2 carries in a game, there's a discussion to be had. Until then it's just ignorant to assume that there's no way they could do any better if given the same opportunities as CJ.

Even Wycheck was saying this morning on the radio that Harper is the kind of back you have to keep feeding. You don't just put him in for one carry every 3 games and expect him to bust off a long one. He's not that kind of back. One thing I do think is true though, is that Harper and Reynaud are less likely to lose a big chunk of yards on any given carry than CJ. Unfortunately, just running forward would be an upgrade at this point.
