Having 21 yards on 19 carries is inexcusable regardless of the OL and coaching scheme. I like football outsiders but just like in baseball sabermetrics do not tell the entire story. Our running game troubles consist of two issues: our run blocking sucks and Johnson is a timid runner. If it was one or the other then we would be better however they make each other much worse.

Our running game (i.e. the OL, Chris Johnson, Munchek/Palmer) is the main reason we are 0-2 and the main reason both our offense and defense suck. If we do not see and improvement in this area we will be lucky to win more then 5 games. Next season we need to put our main focus on improving our running game by completely overhauling our OL, getting a new running back, and quite possibly getting a new OC/HC

great stats from football outsiders. It shows that we have run the ball 90% of the time between the tackles and only 10% outside the tackles. Sure seems like when you have a speed back you should try and out race Lbers to the side line rather than try to run them over.

some of you are so clueless and ignorant its scary...

If a RB has to run without ANY offensive linemen than there is no way he can gain yardage. That is essentially what Johnson is doing...

    Easy concept to understand...

This current version of CJ is only bad because the oline SUCKS. I dont understand how you dont get it man. Yet your in love with McCourty (who's average at best) and are completely dillusional when you say he is better than finnegan and that we wont miss finnegan. Either way I give up man there is no changing your wrong opinion on this topic. I guess you just dont understand that you need a halfway decent oline for a small and quick rb like CJ to be successful.

Guys, this is all on Chris Palmer, and Mike Munchak for allowing Palmer to sell him on his schemes.

The offensive linemen that we have are too set in their ways to zone block. Especially Roos and Stewart. It was obvious last year and it is even more so this year. Hutchinson has only played in power blocking schemes his entire career. Basically, our line is built to be a power blocking line. Yet our amazing and insightful coaching staff (but mostly Chris Palmer) thinks we would be way more successful zone blocking.

Since it is obvious this team wants to zone block till they get fired, they should have overpaid for Meyers. He is the anchor for that zone blocking line in Houston and he understands how zone blocking works. In my mind, if he signed here it would have almost been like when we first got Mawae. He would have become that vocal leader in the trenches and taught guys the proper way to zone block. But no, our team doesn't want to pay guys in FA (and you need to overpay in FA) who fit the scheme that they are trying to run.

Instead we have a bunch of linemen who are set in their ways (guarantee all of them want to run a power blocking scheme, and I don't blame them because they are all players who fit a power blocking scheme) who are tuning the coaching out.

Munchak needs to tell Palmer we need to power block.

This current version of McCourty is bad cause there's no help over the top. See how easy it is to make excuses......

And BTW, McCourty is doing his job, he's actually making plays, whereas your pal CJ is doing NOTHING at all but sucking! :biggrin2:

how exactly is McCourty doing his job? He's gotten toasted on numerous occasions this season. His defense is giving up 36 points per game, and he's the weakest tackler on the team...

Is McCourty not tackling RB's and WR's in the back field for losses? Yea, he is, so his job is being done.

He may not be playing his best football, but he's playing better than Chris Johnson, thats for sure.

You sound dumb as FUQ saying he's the worst tackler on the team, oh boy LOL.

    Tommie Campbell
    Ryan Mouton
    Zach Brown
    Akeem Ayers
    Derrick Morgan
    Mike Martin
    Michael Griffin
    Jordan Babineaux
    Robert Johnson

ALL those guys are worse than McCourty at wrapping up, holy crap dude, stop hating.

Jesus dude get your hands off McCourty's junk for a second. I never said he was the WORST tackler on the team. I said he's the weakest. How about you read because I just made the rest of your post irrelevant.

Who cares if he's playing better than CJ? His job is also a lot easier. He doesn't have to try and gain yardage with no offensive-line, an impossible task. The only thing that matters is no one is doing their job right now. It's not a select few or everyone but McCourty as you seem to think, the whole team is stinking CJ and McCourty included.

Honestly you guys have overrated McCourty so much the past few seasons. The guy is just not that good. He's the friggin definition of average and I'd much rather have his brother.
