SAN DIEGO It was another long day for Titans running back Chris Johnson, who gained only 17 yards on eight carries against the Chargers in a 38-10 loss on Sunday. He has 21 rushing yards on 19 carries through the first two games.

“The run game ain’t working,” Johnson said. “We just aren’t executing the plays. I don’t know why we’re not.”

Johnson expressed more frustration after Sunday’s game than he did following the season-opening loss to the Patriots. He had only three carries in the second half against the Chargers, who led 17-3 at halftime.

“People need to step up and do their job,” Johnson said. “They don’t need to let people beat them. It don’t matter who the opposing defense is, you can’t let your guy beat you. You just can’t give up plays. You have to make plays like they make plays. I can’t speak for the defense. I can only speak for the offense.”

Johnson said the Titans needed to do a better job maintaining possession and sustaining drives: “You win in the trenches. You win from your offensive line and your defensive line.”

Johnson was playing with a heavy heart on Sunday. He found out his great-grandmother died on Sunday morning. He had planned to visit her in the coming days.

Gurtha Pruitt, who Johnson called “Grandma Sweets,” was 100.

“I knew she would have wanted me to play,” Johnson said. “It wasn’t unexpected, but it’s sad. She was getting worse every day and I’d hoped to see her one more time.”

Everyone will bash CJ and make excuses for Locker. The one who has proven he has the superstar capabilities gets dissed every step of the way. Guy has noooooooo where to run. Scheme must change or something

Don't worry, CJ will start off next week 11 carries for 15 yards and then will get that one homerun in garbage time and he'll be off the hook again.
