Brinkley snap not the cause of missed field goal

    The Titans are making a significant special-teams change this season, replacing veteran long-snapper Ken Amato with rookie Beau Brinkley.

    Brinkley’s snap was not as accurate as it should have been during a third-quarter field-goal attempt, but Titans coach Mike Munchak said that was not the reason Will Batson missed a 36-yard attempt that could have tied the contest.

    “I talked to (special teams coach) Alan (Lowry), just to ask his opinion on it,” Munchak said. “The snap was actually low, but the ball got placed. You have to make the kick. You can always blame it on a lot of things, but the bottom line is, you have to make the kick.”

    what happened with Amato again? And why can we not get one of the backup guys to do this job? It seems like we are wasting a roster spot.

    Not sure about Amato, but LS is kind of like PR, you don't eff around and just put anyone in there. Longsnapping under pressure is a crapton harder than it seems. When you have extra pressure your adrenaline kicks in, you have to make sure that adrenaline doesn't force you to hike the ball higher, harder, or faster than any other time. Pressure will also make you grip the ball more. Too much of a grip and you don't get a spiral or you end up chucking it sideways.

    LS is just as important as the Kicker or Punter.
