CJ did put the team first once, in that commercial for ESPN fantasy football when the guy dropped his milk on top of his bread CJ said something like 'WE won the game' - of course he was paid too say this

He mentioned team success over his own success in an interview yesterday.

He said he does have a goal of being in the HOF one day. But he then elaborated that with a Super Bowl ring, it makes that goal more likely to happen.

You guys are seriously too up tight sometimes.

CJ never said he could beat Usain bolt on the 100. He said he thinks it would be a good race if he were given time to actually train for it. Remember you dont train for a sprint the same way you do football.

I think CJ has lost or step 2 in the NFL since he's been in but when he was in his prime he would beat Bolt in the 40 no doubt in my mind. Right now though CJ isnt the fastest player in the NFL anymore, i'd give that title to Ted Ginn Jr,

Even when he's talking about his team, he's talking about himself. I'm with TitanJeff. Despite the occasional lip service that CJ pays to his teammates, I think it's very clear that he cares more about personal success than team success. And, when things go wrong, he blames others (like how he blamed his O-line last year, when it was clear that he was giving no effort).

If the Titans become a pass-first team and start to phase him out (which I believe they are sort of trying to do), I fully expect him to start pouting.

CJ before he got his contract was all about himself and self promotion.

After that wore on people, and he got his contract, he was much more about the team.

I heard that interview yesterday too. He did talk about team success only after his own. Part of a means to an end. In the other quote made above, he mentions his success before the team's. The Titans can only go to the Super Bowl if he's the best RB in the league? Please. In his best season the Titans were 8-8. They did better when he had his worst. He clearly doesn't come across as a guy who wants to place team success above his own.

I'm not saying he doesn't want the Titans to win. He stands to gain more individually if they do. But I don't think anyone who has followed him since his arrival to the Titans can say he's put team success above is own. Just about everything he's done from demanding a new contract, to holding out, to coming to camp out-of-shape, to blaming his OL, to not showing up to workouts with his teammates until he was paid to do it points to that more as much as what comes out of his mouth.

Are we talking about MJD or CJ? Holding out was the right choice for CJ personally even though it did hurt us in the end. Everyone that holds out does 3/5 things u mentioned at least and maybe 4 since it's hard to be in football shape without being there. Also him blaming his O-Line is debatable, as we know he's not the best speaker, he took blame on himself as well through the first half of last year. Not saying he doesn't put himself before the team, because he probably does. Does that actually hurt us though? It's not the perfect scenario for one of our players, but will it hurt us? I don't really think it does. He wants to play to the best of his abilities. That can only help the team. I couldn't really care less about all the arrogant/stupid stuff he says to the media as long as he plays well.
