For the record, I think everyone here except for maybe that one Dalton nut swinger are Locker guys. I don't really think anyone here is down on him.

You can't really take DW at face value. Half his posts are meant to troll people. Pretty sure I have seen him say he wants Locker to beat out Hass as well.

Let's say that Locker shows improvement and Hasselbeck remains the same in camp and preseason games (which I expect to be the case). I still don't think there's any way to know if Locker is ready until he's playing regular season games.

My gut tells me Hasselbeck will be named starter just because of the difficult start to the regular season. If he's effective, then they'll stay with him. If he isn't, and the Titans start our rough, there's no reason NOT to start Locker even if they think he's a notch or two below Hasselbeck.

I expect a full-blown QB controversy if the Titans start out 0-2.

Munchak said he doesn't want a controversy and really the only way to avoid that is to start Locker week one. If Hass gets benched he won't agree with the call and will be butt hurt regardless. Now if you start Locker and he sucks it up and you throw in Hass at least Locker will be understanding because he is still considered inexperienced and it will only drive him to do better. We did pick him eigth overall and we need to see what we have. If we wait another season and he still sucks what else would we accomplish besides wasting a full season at the qb position.

This is exactly what will happen if Hasselbeck starts. Munch said he doesn't want a QB controversy. I don't think anyone else does either. It will waste time and cost us possible wins.

I don't get the argument that they start Hass because of the tough schedule and because he gives us the best chance to win. I hear it all the time, but nobody ever explains why. Hasselbeck loses to good teams! Why would anyone want him starting against good teams? Because people are scared that Locker may struggle? I'd rather take a chance on him succeeding over taking the certain losses that Hasselbeck will provide.

You also mention our potential explosive receivers. Wouldn't they need an explosive QB to reach their full potential? Shouldn't they have a QB that can throw the ball over 20 yds without the ball getting squirrelly? It seems like our receivers, with Palmers ideal offense, would be more effective with an explosive QB? I know Hass may be more efficient inside 5 yds, but I'm looking for us to be moving the sticks a little more this season. We're going to have to with this schedule.

I hear "We know what Hasselbeck can do" all the time, but is it enough to put us over the top?

You can't bench Locker for HB. That is a no-no. You can bench HB, you can't bench Locker.

    This is a given.
