He was drafted number 13 overall because he was one of the nations top DEs.

Yeah and the new draftee thompson, played DE in college, but now is a TE ,because that's what he is,.... being 6'4-255 in college warrants playing DE, but pro scouts new he was a LB at heart, don't get me wrong, i feel Wimbley can be a good DE,...... but a great LB. You can take the boy out the country, but you can't take the country out the boy, he's a LB plain and simple, being asked to play DE.

Well doesn't really matter what either of us think because we drafted Zach Brown in the second to be our OLB and Ayers is our other OLB and McCarthy already mans the middle.

Oh and the Titans signed Wimbley to help fix the DE position

Wimbley quickly thrived in Oakland, playing outside linebacker in the base 4-3 defense and then moving to defensive end in passing situations to take advantage of his pass-rushing skills.

"He is so versatile," linebacker Quentin Groves said. "He is big and athletic, can stop the run on first and second down and then rush the passer on third down. He is a great guy in the locker room as well. If somebody has a question, they go to Kam. He is a silent leader. He leads by actions and by example. He doesn't say a whole lot, but every now and then he tries to joke around a little bit. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy."

He led Oakland with nine sacks last season and is being counted on for even more this year.

"He's a tremendous player, a tremendous young player," Jackson said. "I know he has nothing but an unbelievable upside ahead of him. Nine sacks a year ago, I expect more than that, more of that, and he'll do that for this organization."

I post that mainly to point out that he was playing some DE for the Raiders. It is not like he has played exclusively at LB.

Dont focus on his size. Jerry Gray claims he plays much bigger than he is.

Cutter10 is just worried about Wimbley eating into Malcolm Sheppard's playing time. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Wimbley could probably fit pretty well as a SAM LB (where Ayers plays) but he isn't a good fit at all as a Will LB or MLB. So he could fit into some 4-3 schemes that play a SAM that normally covers the TE at the LOS on the strong side and then put his hand down in nickel situations as a pass rusher (which is what they will probably do more of with Ayers).
