Wright is an ok pick. I take exception with those that rationalize we went BPA because we didn't. Decastro WAS way ahead on every board. It is speculative with all draftees at this point but Decastro has a higher probability of being HOF. Tag that with our need to improve the interior line and I believe we might regret not getting him when we could. A lot of that is mitigated of course if we land a decent center or guard today. Interior linemen have as much or greater impact on points scored as do "skill players".

I'm ok with the pick I just don't want to hear people stating we took wright because he was BPA.

Talk about "speculative." How do you know DeCastro was way ahead on every board, and more importantly, the Titans' board? I agree that Decastro will have a solid if not great career, but I don't have a job with an NFL team and neither do you. The only thing that makes sense is that they took BPA unless you are suggesting that the FO intentionally passed on higher ranked players to take a position of lesser need.

You keep thinking Decastro was ahead on every board. lol

Yeah- us a team with a desperate need at C didn't take the best player on the board that happens to be a center? Something's wrong there.

If he were the BPA- we would have certainly taken him.

Please...... there was no way the Titans of all teams in the NFL were going to take a lineman in the first round. We have two hall of fame Lineman Coaches as both O-line coach & Head coach. We know how to develop talent from later picks.

Mason ran a 4.51 at the combine and a 4.43 at his pro day.

Kendall Wright ran a 4.61 at the combine and a 4.43 at his pro day.

Sorry that, off the top of my head, I was exactly right.

To say that DeCastro was "way ahead" on every board is kinda foolish. First of all, what boards have we seen? Not any real team board. Just mock drafts drawn up by bloggers. And mock drafts aren't even rankings of relative value, they are just predictions of how teams will draft. They are usually weighted far more heavily to need than to relative value. Wright going in the late 20s in mock drafts doesn't mean that he's the 20th best player in the draft. It means that that's where the supply and demand for WR meet (or at least where bloggers think they meet).

It all comes down to who makes more of an impact, a special guard or a special wide receiver? You take the guy who scores points, especially when the organization has a history of finding starting interior linemen in the middle rounds.

I get the argument for DeCastro and I fully expected that to be the pick, but I really can't argue against this pick. I think teams are going with the Packers' game plan. You don't necessarily need a bonafide #1 anymore if you can flood the field with four good receivers and have a QB who can make the throws.
