This draft has very good depth for 2nd rnd rated players. The grade on a player taken at 20 is not going to be that different from the player taken at 40. I think this is especially true at CB and DT.

So figuring out a way to trade back and get 3 picks in the top 2 rnds would be ideal.

I agree. But it likely wont happen. I'd love to trade our 1st, for an early 2nd and 3rd. With a team like the Rams... #20 for #32 & #65. Maybe the Rams want a WR that's available at #20, and dont want to risk not getting him.

    Then we go:
2nd (via Rams): Peter Konz, C, Wisc
2nd (our pick): Vinny Curry, DE, Marshall
3rd (via Rams): Mike Martin, DT, Mich
3rd (our pick): Nick Toon, WR, Wisc
4th - TRADED FOR ASANTE SAMUEL

That would be an A++++ draft day.

Agreed, the problem is finding a dance partner. The only issue I'd have with it is our dismal 2nd round drafting history:

2011: Akeem Ayers - Looks good so far but the jury is still out.
    2010: None
    2009: Sen'Derrick Marks
    2008: Jason Jones
    2007: Chris Henry
    2006: LenDale White
    2005: Michael Roos (Homerun!)
    2004: Ben Troupe
    2003: Tyrone Calico
    2002: Tank Williams
    2001: Andre Dyson

The sad thing is any poster on this message board would have picked better players over that period of time, myself included.

First we've got to find a trade partner. Green Bay would be good because they have 12 picks and only need to add a player or two, they could afford to part ways with some picks.

Next we need to get a minimal combined 850 points back on the draft chart. We aren't doing anyone any favors.

Third thing is to be sure we don't fall too far back that we end up shooting ourselves in the foot and end up with another Tank Williams Andre Woolfolk type. I want our first selection to be someone who can come in and play at a high level day-1. As a 9-7 team, we need to add an impact player to get us over the hump.

Thanks to the new CBA, trading back isn't what it used to be, there's not much savings picking later, you just risk missing out on someone you really like.

I think a good player will fall to 20. Potentially Poe, Keuchly, or a blue-chip CB.

If you want impact from your 1st rnd pick then drafting Konz will give you the most immediate impact because he would touch the ball every offensive snap.
