    It's a tough situation.

On one hand, you have probably the best guard prospect since Steve Hutchinson. DeCastro has the ability to be an annual all-pro guard. The interior line definitely needs to be upgraded. At 20 DeCastro is probably the best player on the board.

On the other hand, is a guard really worth a first round pick? How valuable is a guard versus a DE? Is an all-pro guard better value than a good defensive end or defensive tackle?

When you watch him play, there isn't a whole lot not to like.

No doubt I would take DeCastro. A lot of people don't like going O-Line in the 1st round because it's not a "sexy pick." He's gonna start for wherever he goes for the next 10 years at least and will be a player that heads down to Hawaii for most of those years as well. Would love to take him at 20 if he's there. IDK if the front office feels the same way, but I hope so. Doesn't make a lot of mistakes and is very intelligent in the scheme he plays and has great technique which is one of the most characteristics of playing O-Line. Gonna be a great player.

that's a good point... if decastro does fall that far, it's most likely because players in DL have been taken..

There are 2 things wrong with this statement.

1.) There are really no "sure thing" at DE this draft.
2.) If DeCastro falls to #20 we would be very fortunate.

Im trying to respect and understand the ones who pass on him but these points dont make sense to me.

I'm trying to think of players that I would take over DeCastro if he's still on the board but I can't name any. There are a handful of guys that could be really good picks for us at #20 but I don't see any of them being a safer pick than DeCastro if he's on the board.

Honestly, I admit to being very high on Cordy Glenn as well. I see Cordy Glenn nearly as skilled as DeCastro. I do think that DeCastro's athleticism is slightly better which I think will allow him to be more succesful if we were to need him at center.

Yeah I'll take him, the fact that we need a RG makes it a no brainer, as much as I would like D-line in the first. The dude is amazing.

There will be decent D-line prospects in the second and third rounds. for example.

    1-DeCastro
    2-Chandler Jones
    3-Mike Martin

    or

    1-DeCastro
    2-Thompson
    3- Bequette

I forgot to add the fact that Hutchinson is a temporary fill. He doesnt have many years left so its important that we get at least one future starter at gaurd now to make it easy to keep our line together in the future.

    1) Fair enough. I do think that we can really make a splash at that position in the draft, though.

    2) I agree, but Munch has said that we aren't picking an offensive lineman in the 1st. We are better at hitting gold in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

He won't be there but honestly, I'd likely pass

G isn't really a need. Hutchinson & Harris are the starters. Velasco is a very good backup. Heck, Amano is an alright G himself if we can replace him at C.

We NEED to go DL with 2 of the first 3 picks. That other pick should be a C.
