I don't think anybody questions the fact that Manning would be an upgrade at the QB position right now.
The concern is the future. We spent the #8 pick on Locker. Will we sit him for three more years behind Manning? Locker's contract will be up by then and then what?
Yes, having Manning would be nice. But it does not guarantee us a SB win and it might hurt us down the road.
There are so many needs the Titans currently have. QB is not one of them unless he also plays on defenses and rushes the passer.
If you really think Bud wants Peyton for competitive reasons I would think again. He wants Peyton because that means revenue and publicity to the franchise first and foremost.

I question it. I find it amazing that people now seem to forget four surgeries and that he hasn't played for a season. He's Peyton Manning and has had an amazing career but this is far from a sure thing, IMO.

If it means a Super Bowl, it's the greatest decision ever made. If it means Peyton is never close to being the same player and the Titans don't go deep in the playoffs during that time, then it's a huge mistake, IMO, and will take seasons to recover from.

I completely agree. Does Manning upgrade the QB position enough to compensate for all those weaknesses if signing him means no shot at a top G or DE? I don't think so but maybe there is a way the Titans get Manning and also can get help.

I think Bud has enough money and genuinely desires a Super Bowl. I don't question the man's desire to go to the grave with a ring on his finger. That doesn't mean I agree that signing Manning is the right thing or going to happen.

It does make things interesting though. :brow:

Unless you have an elite QB, yes... QB is a need.

And I'm pretty sure, logically, Bud Adams is more worried about a Superbowl in these last few years of his life than stacking more millions upon his mountain of money.

Basically, every argument vs Manning so far is very weak.

The only argument is financial. Outside of that... nothing.

Who care's when Jake Locker's contract is up? Re-sign him. Big deal.

Manning will want multiple years signed, 3 years atleast. He wants to finish his career with one team, and i'd be us. Yes, Manning has been an elite QB for years, as Titans fans we should all be very aware of what he can do. However, I it would be a stupid move to dump a potential franchise QB [LOCKER] for a few years of a Manning. Especially a Manning that just came off 30518355.4 neck surgeries. Do you think Locker will sit around for 3 years, probably not. He wants to play. Will Manning even be the same Manning again, probably not.

I'd much rather spend our money on a legit pass-rush.. Mario Williams. And then also improve our OL with vets like Scott Wells and/or Steve Hutchinson.

That's just how I see it. I can't imagine myself rooting for #18, ever.

and we need to do this, whenever our Manning visit is.. offer his a contract right their. If he doesn't take it, offer a mega contract to Mario Williams. We can't lose out on Manning and Mario Williams. The Titans can NOT sit around and wait for Peyton to make his decision, and then blow us off.

Worth the "risk". If he's not healthy, you big Jake Locker fans still win.

Seasons to recover from? Oh my! You mean we may be mediocre for a few seasons while recovering? How will we ever cope with that??? Oh wait. We've been mediocre for 10 years... heaven forbid we try to change that for the "risk" of it hurting us for another few.

With Manning, we're MORE likely to upgrade the OL. You guys are seeming to miss that. As you can see- we're bringing in Hutchinson now.
What DE is Manning going to keep us from getting that can't be matched or bettered in the draft?... Mario Williams? Oh wait.. you're the guy talking about injuries and more injuries... who knows if Mario Williams can play? Plus, he's never been that great anyway.

Brett Favre was really close to leading the Vikings to the SB. Shows just what a high caliber QB can do for a team...

You really think going DE and G (a means we've taken time and time again) will be a similar option? Meh.

    ha!

I don't know. I'll still hate the guy, regardless. I will just hope he plays well.
