There are so many ways to lighten the load that a teams salary cap hold, such as front loading a contract with guaranteed money. Mario Williams may make 13m per year but his cap number could come in somewhere around 8m or perhaps even less.

I think there are several high priced vets that will be cut which will free up even more, not sure if that number is already figured into the 30-35m we are under? Vets like Scott, Ball, Hall among others will not be resigned.

If I were in charge I'd cut Leroy Harris and put Amano back at guard where he obviously has had success and I'd venture to say he'd be an above average guard once again.

Harris is a bust, it's because of his failure that we've had such turmoil on the inside. He was drafted to play center, like he did in College but it's apparent that he's just not very good, so they kick him to guard and he sucks there as well... anyone know how many holding penalties he had this year? The only option they had was to try to make Amano a center and we've all seen what happened there, yikes. Cut Harris, move Amano back to guard, be rid of Scott who was average, at best, when we signed him years ago, now he blows. Sign a guard in free agency and draft a center and guard this year. Hell maybe even Velasco can get a shot at a starting guard spot.

The class of free agent centers is pathetic, minus Myers but I'm almost positive he'll resign with the Texans. Hardwick is way overrated and he is probably going to retire anyway.

I think David Molk or Phillip Blake could start in their rookie seasons for us, Blake is entering the league at the age of 26 which is a negative, but he's a solid player nonetheless.

Forget the whole notion of classifying SS and FS, in this day and age both safeties should be free safeties. The safety we replace Hope with should be fast, more like a big corner but he must be able to cover first and foremost. So I'd forget Barron, Harrison Smith... the big slower safeties.

Rambling now but I can't wait to see what the F.O.'s plan is, keeping my fingers crossed for either Mario, Nicks or Myers however. :)

We should definitely cut Graham and at least ONE of Marks/Smith.

I don't think straight up cutting Marks right now makes sense. He's still playing under his rookie contract and as a second round pick he can't cost much. At least let him cut himself during camp if someone on the roster earns his spot and he doesn't get better.

Griffin better do a lot more than he did last year. I guess it was slim pickings for safeties.

Seems like a lot of other teams does well in the draft. Seems like the Titans dont do so well. They get lucky from time to time, but it seems we either get guys that take three seasons to show up or get a great looking kid who gets hurt in early season. I sure would love for us to catch a break.

Maybe instead of talent we should get players who work for peanuts just to get to play, and hope they get better?

OK, witless rambling, I guess I am jealous of some of the other teams and sometimes forget there are many other teams worse.

Well I mean it takes time for drafted players to pan out. With the exception of first and second round picks most guys take a few years. Its like that with all teams, everyone has that Hawkins, Williams, and in some cases Cooks. You just hope you saw enough of them to justify giving them a new contract instead of going to free agency and burning you there.

If last years draft is any indication, we have alot to look forward to. We filled so many holes last year it really kind of spoiled some people. I hope this years draft is atleast half as good.

Our front office makes controversial but very good decisions for the most part. Very rarely do we go back and think something should have been done otherwise. 1 team out of 32 win a Super Bowl every year so the odds are not in our favor, but we DO have the front office to get us there. Many teams can't say that.

I agree that they have done better of late. We have been rather unlucky with the injury prone and character flawed Britt. I mean, he is a great player when his mind is right and he is not injured. I just hope he can come back and be the same player he was. I'm hoping that he will mature and become a more dependable leader. The loss of Britt probably cost us a playoff run last year and the next best was Nate Washington. Granted, I felt like he did as well as can be expected of him, but they need their second option to be better imo. Historically, the Titans have not done well at developing the receiver position. I hope the FO changes that and soon.

    True and I somewhat agree

Britt was never injury prone or had character issues in college. The draft is always a gamble.

Luckily, it looks like our issues with receivers is finally looking on the up. We have a few guys who look to turn out nicely.

Drafting a ton of players and hoping one turned out really screwed us. I think Roby and Starks are the only people who have even somewhat helped their teams. Starks is probably the only one we should have kept, and he may not have even turned out like he has with us.

Are you kidding me? This is one of the best FA center classes in a while.

Last years class (http://footballsfuture.com/2011/fa/ol.html), the best FA C was Olin Kreutz and Samson Satele.

This year there is Chris Myers, Scott Wells, Nick Hardwick, Todd McClure, Matt Birk, Scott Mruczkowski, Dan Koppen, Casey Wiegmann, and Jeff Saturday. Myers and Wells are both Top-5 centers in the league according to PFF.
