if we switched to a 3-4 i wouldnt be opposed to get someone like burfict if we actually switched to anchor the middle and bring some attitude....

While he does flash, he needs to be handled properly. Whichever team gets him will need to put restraints on his emotions during game. He doesn't have off field issues.... But he's a little mental on field.

No more head cases please. Vince Young and Mike Griffin were enough for me.

To be fair, this is a different head case from them, Vince was a sore loser cry baby, griffin is just a wasted talent, burfict is extreme on the field. A young James Harrison, with a splash of extra gas on the fire.

If Burfict could learn to control himself and put all that hot-headedness (is that a word?) into his play he could be unstoppable. For some reason I've had it in my mind the whole time that he'll end up in Baltimore as kind of Ray Lewis's successor. If he played one year with Ray and learned what it is to be a professional from one of the best, he could be scary good.

Ayers was used a few times with his hand down and had a sack at least one time I know of.

Some of you guys need to pay attention when watching games. Almost all the 3-4 teams go with a 4 man front in sure passing situations and use guys like Ayers as DEs. Houston uses both their OLBs as DEs in passing situations (Barwin and Reed are similar in size) and they were very successful. Ayers is 6'2, 254. Mathis is 10 pounds smaller. Guys like Ware play with their hand down in passing situations (6'4, 260). Ayers is perfectly capable of playing DE. Heck, Ball was a 4 down DE for us and he is 6'5, 255. Dumervil is 5'11, 260.

Also, it isn't like Ayers is great at playing the pass. He is OK but that isn't his strong suite. You won't see him playing DE unless it is a definite passing situation but any help we can get rushing the passer is warranted.

we need to switch to a damn 3-4. the whole league is doing it. and they are successful
the best defenses in the league are 3-4. we need to wake up and understand its 2012

People on this board need to wake up and understand there is no magic effect that standing up an extra defender has on a defense.
