This site is well-known for fan overreaction after a big win or a big loss. It is the nature of the beast.

Very valid. I felt the same. I wanted the change at the half. But there were so many blunders unassociated with Hasselbeck. I just think it's easier for fans to point to one thing instead of looking at the full crapfest of the OL/CJ not doing anything, the DL/LBs allowing Brown to gash them, etc.

I agree. I wish someone would at least ask why he's not trying other combinations. What I suspect is that he knows who he has and doesn't feel plugging a backup in fixes the problem. I don't see any way you flip Amano and Harris but that has to be something considered this offseason. You and I might plug in Velasco just to see what happens but Munch may think what he gains in run blocking is lost in pass protection.

This is all speculation on my part but fixing the run game has to be priority #1 entering the offseason, IMO. If he sits back and keeps the OL the same, then I begin moving over to the side with those who feel he's incompetent.

I'm sure he is overwhelmed at times. I would suspect most first-year head coaches are. But there have been quite a few successful coaches in the NFL who started off with losing records.

If he doesn't produce in '12, then you have to look at options. This crap about him not showing emotion meaning he doesn't care or have passion for his job is idiotic, IMO, and really diverts from the real issues.

Yes. Actually, I'd say 50% of coaching is based on motivation.

    Agreed with the rest though.

So then what's the answer? Throw your hands up, look baffled, and do nothing? With that pathetic effort we saw last Sunday I think I would've scraped the bottom of the depth chart just to finish the game if necessary. And if that's what it came down to in a game with major playoff implications then believe me, heads would've ROLLED on Monday.

As I've said earlier, it really seems like Munchak doesn't have the players' full attention. Seems like they don't fear consequence for half-arsed play (why should they?). Everybody makes mistakes and I know you can't just bench them every single time they mess up. But a lot of these guys are repeat offenders. CJ has looked lethargic and unmotivated for the vast majority of the season. The OL stinks something awful. And how many times now has Jared Cook screwed up whether it be fumbling, falling down off the line, running the wrong route, etc.?

What consequence have they faced? None. And those same guys are going to be right back out there this Saturday taking their normal load of snaps, as per usual. GUARANTEED. This is Fisher using your forehead to bust down a brick wall at its finest.

I just really do not understand why we can't get a coach in here that will make a GD lineup adjustment when necessary.

EDIT: I posted this before I saw your last post. Some of what I'm asking here was already answered there.

    You mean "Pro Bowler" Mariani?

You honestly don't think the coaches teach tackling?

    Finally! A legitimate point!

I was all for a healthy Hasselbeck starting. The moment he showed he wasn't should have been the moment he came out. But remember, Locker only practiced two days last week himself. Still, I think Munch made a mistake not making the change at the half.

How the players play only contributes a little to the outcome of a football game? I guess you gave Munch the majority of credit for all six wins this season then, right?

Migrant workers? Sure. Burger flippers? Maybe. Any decent job? No.

If you don't care about your performance, then you don't care if you have a future in that job or care if you will paid more at some point. Advancement isn't a priority.

These are professional athletes. There are guys who usually have short careers who can make multi-millions if they perform well. Are you going to tell us they have no self-motivation to play well? That's a joke.

Yeah. Crazy how high we all were just one week prior after the close loss to NO. That's what's so frakkin' frustrating about this team. We play a top 3-5 NFL team that tough then go out the next week and get spanked by the worst team in the league.

Very true. It just looks pretty bad when Locker goes in there with 6 minutes left and immediately leads us to our first TD of the day, soft defense or not.

I guess that's it. But like I said earlier, it's not like we have a GB/NE/NO type pass offense. We insist on running the offense through CJ yet we aren't doing anything to fix run blocking for fear of hurting pass blocking? Perhaps I'm missing something here but that just makes zero sense to me.

You have to balance what you hope is a few bad plays with keeping the players on the field who give you the best shot at winning. You and I may have yanked Cook off the field for the fumble since it has been a repeating issue with him and you can bet the coaches have spent time correcting it. But Cook has that big play potential over other options so do you sit him down?

Did you feel the same way after the Saints game? I saw players playing their hearts out. It was probably the most passion I'd seen from the team in a long time. It was a heartbreaking loss but many here applauded the effort and were proud of the team.

Should Munch get credit for that since he's the "motivator"? For anyone who feels he's the total blame for an unmotivated Titans team on Sunday, he should. So, if he is, what did he do in one week to turn the motivated football team with the playoffs on-the-line to an unmotivated team in a week?

I've beaten this topic to death so will now bow out. I think Munch clearly should be criticized for his decision to keep Hasselbeck in but that game was lost because of the inspired play of the Colts and the unmotivated and mistake-filled play of the Titans.

Professionals is used loosely when it comes to the NFL...a lot of these athletes are pushed through college....they aren't taught much. Sure you have a Tom Brady here or there but they are mostly just young kids who's focus is playing a game.

If self-motivation was common, we wouldn't have such a high turn-over rate in colleges in general.

My response is this.I never meant that he doesn't care or have passion BUT he looks practically sedated on the sidelines and there are lots of people besides me who wonder about that.It wouldn't hurt sometimes to get fired up and let the intensity show and get the team motivated.

I grew up on coaches like Chuck Noll,Dan Reeves,Sam Whyche,Marty Schottenheimer,Buddy Ryan and especially Mike Ditka and all those guys regularly had all the guys in a circle talking to them and yelling encouragement and getting those guys worked up and motivated before games.
