Out of the pocket - YES

Holding the ball - NO......threw the ball and his arm had already followed through all the way down enough that he had time to put it back up as Harrison hit him.

Charging the line - NO.....threw the ball and followed through. 2 steps between the time the ball was released and the hit.

All of this allowed Harrison every chance to nail him anywhere BESIDES the head. Way too high.

How is a guy running out of the pocket toward the line of scrimmage a defenseless player? McCoy put himself in a vulnerable position by letting go of the ball at the last second.

So a linebacker needs to wait until he crosses the line, ceases to be a passer and does not leave his body vulnerable to make a hard hit?

We have enough special rules for Qbs as it is. Leave the pocket and act like a ball carrier expect to get hit like one.

So based on the Childress interpretation of how nfl football should be played everyone of these types hits would be immoral and illegal in the nfl or should be and the players banned?

    Awesome video!
    However......
Almost every one of these were wrap ups around the chest or midsection with the tacklers head to the side, shots to the chest (not head) with shoulders or forearms.
    And....the players had the ball.

According to Childress most of the best defensive players in the history of the game would be banned and the QB would where a red jersey in real games with flags.

Watch the video and listen to the quotes, Dick "Butkus wanted to put you on the cemetery not the hospital." He tried to hurt you on every play,"

You are a linebacker and you have Tom Brady, Drew Brees or Aaron Rogers running toward you and you are not going to lay them out? Just give him a pass with a friendly bear hug?

Yes but they were defenseless and at any time could have pitched the ball away which warrants some kind of special protection in the minds of some.

None of those guys are as big as an NFL linebacker either. I am really not even sure why that video was posted.
