    No CJ. No open WR's.

Sorry but that theory is correct, they fear CJ more than the QB so they stack the line leaving WR open.

We have had three pretty strong rushing TDs from our first team this preseason...if this continues into the regular season these lanes will open up. Given that Harper's TDs have been pretty much against the 1s, I am hopeful that this gets corrected, with or without CJ.

Also, its not as if we haven't been real close, with both Hassleback and Locker (I agree that Locker's TD shouldn't count here).

Again, nice try. Stacking the line involves creeping your LBs up and even dropping a safety into the box; not taking a CB off a WR. So you have CB's covering the receivers and one safety over the top. CJ creates more space for WRs and TEs coming across the middle, but it's really not that drastic unless the defense bites on play action.

No CJ = WRs less open (works)

And the reverse... Lions went 4-0 in the preseason the year they went 0-16.

Nice try. If there is only one S over the top that is ONE guy who has to cover the whole field. So if Britt for example runs down one sideline he is either going to have single coverage which is real good for us or the S has to go over and help which leaves the other side AND middle open.

Basically CJ keeps teams from playing cover 2 for example. Cover 2 is vulnerable to the run because both Ss are back and try to cover half the field. By forcing a S to come up and basically be an extra LB opens up the field for WRs, TEs and even RBs. It opens some real nice lanes for Cook and Stevens.

The name of the game IMO is being able to use play action effectively on early downs anyway. CJ makes playaction work much better.
