All I gotta say is I wish deuce wayne wasn't a titans fan. All the negativity and "expect the worst" mentality from him really pisses me off. Sorry if I was off-topic...but I just had to let that out...been on these forums for about a month now and every time I look at a post from this guy it's always about how bad a player is...not how good they could be...sorry if I was wrong about you, deuce, but that's just what I've observed over the past couple of weeks concerning you...are you even a fan? or just someone that likes to bash the titans? I'm really confused about you

You are new to the site...welcome, BUT, I do not think that was tongue in cheek. There are folks here who are already elevating him to that status, bank on it.

I did not watch him closely at Washington, but I did watch his last game vs. Nebraska, and watched his progress predraft. I was pretty apprehensive about us drafting ANY QB at #8, because at the time I thought that no one in the draft was worth a #8. Now that we have drafted him, I am very encouraged by his attitude and work ethic, and I was encouraged by his performance last weekend. However, folks need to temper this by keeping it in perspective....he played well in a scrimmage against very straightforward and basic sets, while running very straightforward and basic plays. Thats all.

I am in his corner, and am really rooting for him, but I think we should all dial it down a notch here.

I was a huge VY supporter after the whole meltdown but I'm pleased with Locker so far. One of the things I liked about Vince is his mobility. I feel that when the game is on the line, or you need a 3rd down conversion, having a mobile QB can really give you an edge sometimes. I'm glad we picked up a mobile QB.

I'm ok with giving Locker a year to learn if H-Beck performs but I don't want to sacrifice any wins this season. I'm all for an open competition.

Here are the facts. We drafted Locker that early in the draft for him to be our Manning / Roethlisberger / Rodgers.....

So that is what he is. He IS our franchise QB. Now it remains to be seen how good he really is but the committment has been made. Unless someone is insane enough to think Hass or Rusty might be the guy then Locker is it.

Also, people IMO shouldn't temper their expectations. Sure some might get ahead of themselves thinking he has arrived already as a complete player but I really believe the expectations should be the guy is a franchise guy and leader of this team. He is our new McNair.

Now could he fail and end up in the David Carr category (or VY #2)? Sure, that could happen. At QB there are no sure things. But that isn't going to be my expectation. I want Locker to play early, get experienced and become that QB we expect him to be. When you draft a guy that high and only have 4 years to have him playing at a high level you can't sit the guy.

If the organization didn't think he could be Big Ben or Rodgers they would not have drafted him where they did. I also think Munch would love to get Locker on the field quickly.

Well if he is our Manning / Roethlisberger / Rodgers then we have more than four years of use for him. Yes maybe four years of prime time, but that wouldn't start until he has some experience under his belt (he obviously isn't starting at his peak or anywhere near it).

I see what you are saying though; he is our franchine QB and we should have these type of expectations for him.

Hasselbeck is the guy. I'm insane, but he is perfect for this year. A seasoned wiley vet who has been to the Super Bowl. If our O clicks he has the experience to keep us in contention and turn some heads, but if he gets hurt we slide in our future and let him grow.

I really have no problem with Hass playing as long as he is playing real well and Locker is learning something during that time. But if Hass is plugging along at his typical mid to low 70s QB rating (which he has had for the last three years) let Locker play and Hass can mentor him from the bench. Either way I don't think we can afford to sit Locker more than one year. he has to play.

What I meant by insane was if someone thought Hass or Rusty were the future guy not just the starter this yearr. It seems perfectly sane to think or want Hass to start this year.

    I'm a fan.

I just like to analyze, remain level-headed, and not like the football version of Justin Bieber fans.

Not going to soil myself over some rookie that wasn't that hot in college last season. I hope for the best, I just don't go around pretending it's likely.
