I think that's a little unfair to say until you've seen the deal in its entirety. The players are signing off on something that will affect the rest of their lives. If you were in the same situation I'm sure you'd take your time and think things through. I heard actual players on ESPN holding their ground. I don't know if they represent the majority, but they're supposed to and they stated they were given the actual contracts at the last minute.

nothing will get done today, the players are still mad, and half of them dont know whats going on. it'll take most of the weekend for everyone to get on the same page and calm down. maybe early next week the players can agree on this deal.

Sounds like they've got til next friday to recertify and agree or some of the deal reverts back to 2008 standards.

Basically, they get it done by next week or no season (or at least abbreviated season).

I've been watching the NFLN and several NFLPA team reps had made media statements and to me, they didn't make any sense. First, the players said there were many things in the owner ratified agreement that were never agreed to but none of the players had any idea what they were. They said they hadn't read it. So which is it? Did the players read things they didn't like or did they read it at all? At least the NFLN commentators could shoot straight. It sounds like the big snags wrap around the anti-trust law suit. So basically, that's the MAIN reason the CBA isn't going to signed.

bottom line is, players want out of training camp imo, they are in no rush to start, but the owners want to start now.

players will milk this as long as they can.

The average player IQ must be around 80.

So smart to be stubborn and end up getting paid nothing. The money they miss out on this season will never add up to the tiny bit extra they wanted to make each season in the new CBA deal.

Retards. Quit being a bunch of poons.

    Here's my "new proposal"...
(it's really just a variation of of something I posted earlier).
    but here goes...

Announce that NO UNION will ever be recognized.
    Cancel all contracts.
Offer all current players a participation bid sheet and compile a list of willing players.
Take all the players that want to play and combine them with the UDFA and walk-ons and hold a player draft behind closed doors.
Send out notice to the players and have them report to their team.
The NFL is going to have to institute a pay scale that keeps salaries lower and closer together. Too many guys are making $400,000 while there's too many $10M year guys. The salary gap needs to be closed...

    Thoughts? Too authoritarian?

My plan.. everyone is a FA and we do a fantasy draft (Madden style). Then do a lottery for the pick order (NBA style).

    1st round players get 2 mil/yr
    2nd round lpayers get 1.75 mil/yr
    3rd round players get 1.50 mil/yr
    4th year players get 1.40 mil/yr
    so on and so on

    I love it!

I wonder how the highest paid players would react? I wouldn't mind it at all if the league all of a sudden had 20% replacement players on the rosters. Over time that talent gap would close. I bet there's some good talent in the CFL.
