I'm no computer guru, and I'm looking to buy a wireless router, any suggestions? I want something that's simple to setup, and doesn't need attention. I'd like to set it up and forget about it.

    Avoid Linksys, they're garbage.

dang what model did you own?

Since the re-brand to Cisco Linksys the range is the best on the market.
My second choice would be Netgear.
    Third choice DLink.
4th would be Draytek but they're aimed at the business market.

Do not by a Belkin, their hardware is all poorly made and often break soon after the warranty expire.

A cheap router will always have a weak signal unless in a house with paper thin stud walls.

Pick a brand you like the look of and choose a router in the middle of their price range. Search for it on Amazon and check out the review ratings.

    I like D-Link a lot.

Cisco's newer ones are pretty solid too.

I have a NETGEAR one, it was easy to setup but it drops connection a lot.

From your wireless PC or Laptop go to http://tools.meraki.com/stumbler#q=

Check if your neighors wifi networks are set to the same channel. If they are set your router to operate on a different channel.

Cordless phones and microwaves can drop your signal but I doubt your router is in the kitchen.:D

  8. I tend to like Dlink mainly because they are cheaper and (to me) just as good.

Also, some models have removable antennas that can be replaced with stronger ones, though I haven't gone looking for any of those recently so perhaps they don't anymore.

I'm going with the Cisco E2000. I don't need anything too fancy, but this was priced in the middle of everything so it's gotta be decent. $72 including shipping.
