Yes I realize MR is not new. But there's no denying that in years past Jeff Fisher was the one running the show. MR played second fiddle to JF. MR would never had made a comment like "We aren't going to re-sign Randy Moss" without JF's blessing.

Now he's free to conduct business as he sees fit. It's the Reinfeldt show. So even though MR has been here for a few years this still certainly qualifies as a "new regime". Can you honestly say you aren't noticing a difference in their willingness to share information since Fisher's departure (whether you agree with said information or not)?

For me it's not so much what he said that was so appealing. I just appreciate honesty. Like I said earlier, it's a nice breath of fresh air compared to what we've been accustomed to.

    Could be a few things:

    1. MR realized Rusty is nothing more than a roster spot, and it doesn't matter what he says because Rusty is irrelevant.

    2. MR hasn't given up on Rusty and as you mentioned, wants him to work hard and strive for better things. Telling someone they can't do something can be quite the motivator.

    3. When keeping it real goes wrong.

So you think MR said that about Moss without MM's blessing? Like those guys don't talk and discuss personnel issues? I don't know about the communication part of it but Fisher certainly allowed the coaches (coordinators and position coaches) to have an active part in the draft and probably FA to some extent. People make it seem like Fisher was some kind of dictator or something when actually Reese was the one for years that basically dictated personnel stuff. Yes, for years Reese ran the show. The change for the good was ending that non-sense and allowing the coaches some input which Fisher did (although on a few picks it didn't work out).

Also the re-signing or not re-signing Moss is a non issue anyway. Only a few fans who haven't moved on from the 90s saw any reason to keep that guy around. Pretty bold move IMO for Fisher to bring Moss in to begin with. But now everyone knows it didn't work, won't work and it really isn't an issue. He obviously shouldn't be signed.

I never said, nor implied that they don't discuss personnel issues. Of course they do. Let's not go putting words in my mouth. Perhaps he did get Munch's blessing before he spoke. But if he did I'd bet it was out of common courtesy as opposed to having to "ask permission". When Reinfeldt was brought in he surely knew, as well as everyone else, that he was effectively working under Jeff Fisher. Regardless, whether or not he had Munch's blessing wasn't my point. My point was that with Fisher gone now Reinfedlt is the head honcho. And at the end of the day he doesn't have to answer to anybody (aside from Bud obviously).

You're getting much more broad here than I was intending with my original comment. I'm not talking about coach input in the draft or FA. Most GMs and HCs take input from their coaches. That's not the issue. All I'm talking about here is honesty and forthrightness. If you or anyone else believes either of those words accurately describes Jeff Fisher then I have some beach front property in Brentwood I'd like to sell you.

And BTW, simply listening to the opinions of people you hired doesn't necessarily make you any less of a dictator. Every decision regarding player personnel and staff was ultimately up to Jeff Fisher.* Does anyone really not believe this? If he wanted a guy bad enough he got his guy. If he didn't want a guy bad enough we didn't keep/sign him.

*Of course the drafting of VY and Bud's insistence to start him don't apply. But VY was a clear exception to the rule. Bud had such a hard on for VY that there was just nothing Fisher could do about it. It's not like Bud is constantly trying to run the team from the shadows or anything. Fisher for the most part had free reign to run the show as he saw fit after Reese's firing.

    Two things:

    1. What else is MR going to say? Rusty is a second year guy with one start. We just drafted the future franchise QB (hopefully). Rusty doesn't have enough experience to put the season on his shoulders and certainly can't teach Locker much about game time. We need a vet. (IMO MR is paving way for Collins to stay.)

    2. Rusty was Heimerdinger's choice. We drafted Rusty because of him. I don't think Chris Palmer has any real interest in further developing Rusty. We probably will trade Rusty if he shows some good stuff this season and somebody believes he can be their number one. So MR is wise to talk upside.

I'll give Rusty another year or two to develop before I throw him in my "Mouton & Amano pile of crap" pile. I've always felt under the right conditions, Rusty Smith will emerge as a decent NFL QB. He's also further along than Volek was at this point in his career. I use to look at Volek like, why is this guy on my favorite team... Then years and years later he showed some ability. Then was sent packing.

I still think you are making a bunch of nothing out of nothing. So we aren't signing a washed up WR and Rusty isn't starter material. Wow, glad we now have honesty in the FO.

Again, you are making assumptions about who was/is more of a dictator without any inside knowledge whatsoever to go on. Maybe it is a collaborative effort, and quite possibly it isn't a whole lot different now than it was with Fisher (I'd say things aren't much different). These assumptions that Fisher kept MR under his thumb after Reese left are ridiculous as are any assumptions that now MR is in control. Maybe these are professionals trying to form the best team they can by working together and all this drama queen BS is simply that...BS.

As far as being more broad on the input from coordinators and assistant coaches you missed my point. On one hand you make Fisher out to be this Stalin like manager who might, if he is having a good day, listen to your opinion (or MR now I guess) but gosh dangit in reality EVERY decision made was Jeff Fisher. Well that goes contrary to the Henry draft pick (RB coach), Hayes and Marks (DL coach) and OL guys that came in with MM's blessing. How about the Mouton pick, another pick while Fisher was here that apparently had the blessing of the position coach.

As far as what a coach or GM spills to the media again you are making more drama out of this than is really there. There might be a little different style now because people are different but I just don't see a whole lot to get lathered up about. What do we really know now we didn't know or woudln't have known under the Stalin, I mean Fisher regime? Nothing.

Sox we can probably just agree to disagree at this point. All I said in my original post was that I'm noticing a stark difference in the way information and inside opinion is being handled since Fisher's departure. And several people have agreed with me. It's not like I'm completely making this up out of nowhere. You think I'm blowing it out of proportion. That's fine. You're entitled to your opinion.

I do want to respond to one last thing though. And that is I wasn't the one who brought "dictator" and "Stalin" into this conversation. You did. Also, I never said Fisher MADE every decision. What I was saying is that he was the top guy. While he may not necessarily make every single decision I believe he had the power to VETO any decision he was adamantly against. Would you disagree? Do you really believe Jeff Fisher and Mike Reinfeldt had a typical HC/GM relationship? Or do you think JF had a lot more power than your average HC?

The difference this year is that MR is working WITH Munchak.

Last year, he was working FOR Fisher. Everyone was but Bud.

It's all part of the self-accountability Munchak is trying to preach. I'll let you do your job with little interference if you produce results. If you don't, then don't be surprised if you're let go or demoted, etc.

MR had the power to fire Fisher. The whole point is stupid.
