Of you guys joining the forum from Washington, give us your thoughts on Locker as a pocket passer. There's all the talk about the drops and OL issues but he looked rough in the Senior Bowl.

Is the talk of Locker's inaccuracy overblown?

I think the statistic is inflated by, as I've said in other threads, 40+ drops, and 60 OOB's cause his WR's can't get open... He had Kearse as the only play making target, and he got plenty of attention from DB's, and had problems getting separation from good coverage, and had a case of the stone hands. Try to find an open guy in the Nebraska footage... It's painful.

As to if the Titans should play Locker or not... That's up to them, but the reason to bench him shouldn't be to protect him from criticism before he's ready... 3 seasons ago he went 0-12 (granted he was out much of it, but he won't make that excuse). The next year his team goes 5-7. He could have been the #1 pick after that... He stayed around because he felt he should. Jake doesn't fear failing. He fears letting his teammates down. Period. That's why Huskies will love this guy forever, no matter how good or bad things get... He stuck with us, we'll stick with him... He's a Titan now... The fact they had options, and chose him can only make Jake more indebted to this team.

If they were in panic mode, it wouldn't have been Ponder they took.

Without injuries, Ponder is easily the best QB in this class- they took a chance and drafted him based on his talent value ignoring the injuries. They knew what they were doing, and I doubt they wanted Locker seeing as how quickly they decided on Ponder.

I posted this on another board (and no not a huskie fan... I don't follow college football); The Titans needed a leader on the offensive side of the ball. From all the interviews and vids I have seen, Locker is not one to quit, he will be the one to lead.

People always talked about VY's leadership skills, but I never saw it. When things were down, the guys never looked to Vince as a leader cause he was down and mopey as well. Locker seems the type to stay calm and instill a fire under everyone's at that point.

I would have been OK with Ponder in the 2nd round but not the first. I'd rather have Locker and Ayers than Fairley and Ponder. I think the comparisons of Ponder to Pennington are dead on. So us not getting him is not gonna make me sad. If we're talking round 2 QBs I'd rather have Dalton anyway.

I'm down for any QB that goes hunting instead of Clubbing, that wears a hunting hat over Bling Bling, that drives a Chevy Truck over a Cadillac Escalade. Who's favorite book is a playbook instead of no book at all. A QB who can speak correct grammar in interviews, a player who Grunts instead of Crying. give me that QB! Give me Jake Locker!

I am still not a fan of taking Locker at 8, but I am not going to rail about it going forward. I agree with Eddy that getting Ayers in round 2 helped offset some of my concern about reaching in round 1. Locker has a good attitude, a good work ethic, and good leadership skills. There really are no "sure thing" prospects at QB this year anyway IMO, so we probably did about as well as we could with this.

I also think that the lack of a CBA, and the resultant lack of ability to sign FAs before the draft, really played a big factor in our decision to reach here, and I cannot argue too much with that logic.

Time will tell on how this pans out...

Aside from not being a crybaby and speaking properly in public, what does any of this have to do with being a professional football player?

    Ugh...just say what you mean.
