stop always crying. I didnt like the pick that much but I didnt like the VY pick. I also didn't like the CJ pick. Hes our new QB, get over it. He can run, thats the least of our worries btw.

No one is "crying" it's called analytical thinking. And you don't have to be defensive whens someone throws up questions that are relevant.

Good points though from most. Again, I don't dislike the pick. I don't like the value of it, but I like the player and hope he'll be better than I think he is.

I love the fact that we have QBs who can run. Munch thinks it helps our running game by keeping the ends or OLBs honest and he can get first downs with his legs to keep drives going.

To me his running ability is a plus.

I get where you're coming Deuce. At #8 he was a reach for his talent level. Some people don't understand (or define) draft position on talent but rather need. I believe the prevalent position is that not drafting BPA (best player available) is what defines "reach".

I love Locker's intangibles. He is a great guy. I'm glad he is on the team. I hope he reaches his fullest potential and becomes what we need him to be.

But I also have my concerns about his skill set. He IS inaccurate. His pocket mechanics and presence are not consistent and we HAVE taken a gamble that they will be developed to a level that is necessary to be a franchise QB. And I am NOT a Chris Palmer fan - I have serious doubts he is the man for the job.

That said, our offense is run-oriented so we aren't asking a lot of Locker. I believe he will easily be able to run our offense. But if we are going to go further in the playoffs than we have, we will need him to be more than that. He will have to be make some throws to keep the DB's back. We can't expect him to lower his shoulder and run the way he did in college. That style shortened McNair's efficacy as our QB.

In short, I agree with those that reference VY's style. I think Locker is a very similar project but has more emotional stability and probably more intellect. I hope it translates into more consistency and stability.

I told you guys this would happen. Locker is too much like a black QB now?

How could the ability to run well be a detriment?

That's one of Locker's best attributes.

Maybe Locker was a 2nd rd prospect based on his passing ability alone but the running and some intangibles made him worth the 8th pick as far as the Titans were concerned.

We were desperate for a QB and they took the guy they thought was best for them. Mallett wasn't an option and Ponder, Stanzi and Dalton don't have big arms. The felt they had to take a QB and Locker was the guy.

Calling a guy "Toby Gerhart who throws once in a while" is hardly analytical. The fact is, the guy was good on the run because he was on the run most of his career. The big knock with VY was that he was a run-first guy, horrible throwing mechanic, and bad footwork. Jake has shown solid footwork, more than willing to pass first when asked to, and has likely the best throwing mechanic if not among the best of any player in this class. The thing that needs to be corrected is his so-called "happy feet" in the pocket. He's the type of guy who is so used to having blocking break down he's ready to run at any minute. He ends up bobbing around the pocket like a fool and never setting his feet.

Locker and VY are leagues apart. Locker is a guy with a pro-ready style and coachable flaws (which he has a great work ethic to help). VY was a guy that was considered a pro project, and didn't take so easily to coaching when he needed a considerable amount to be a pro passer.

The Titans didn't feel that way, obviously.

And do you honestly think the Vikings were thinking "Ohh man, Christian Ponder at 12, what a steal"

No, they went in panic mode when Jake Locker was gone, which probably sent shockwaves through everyone else wanting a QB.

I appluad the Titans were throwing some spice in the draft.

No he is not. They both had the same 40 time at the combine.

I'm going by what I've heard and read from the Titans staff the last couple of days it seemed to me that they liked Locker as a QB, but loved him as a Leader. The Titans have an excellent running game, but they need a leader in that huddle, and I think that's what they were drafting... Just my $.02 as an outsider looking in.
