I wouldn't be mad if we trade up a few spots to get Bowers.

    EXACTLY!

I trust our FO on this one. Who cares if a bunch of fans and "experts" think it was a reach? Look at it this way, they had to REALLY have liked him to go ahead and snag him at 8 instead of trading back, grabbing some extra picks, and hoping he fell to them later. Gabbert, Fairley, Quinn, Watt, Amakumara were all right there for the taking. But we passed on them for Locker. I actually view that as a positive rather than a negative. Because I trust the FO's evaluation skills more than Mel Kiper or some message board know-it-all. FO loves this guy. So much so that they were willing to risk their reputation (and possibly jobs) on it.

This was not some frantic, panic-mode decision like Minnesota made at 12. The decision to draft Locker was obviously very well thought out. The Titans went into the draft knowing Locker wouldn't be selected in the top 7. And they went into the draft knowing they were going to to select Locker at 8.

All i'm going to say is that Locker was suppose to be the #1 pick last year.

So how can you go wrong?

Brett Favre is the exception. There's no one else like him.

yep, and when the curveball came and Gabbert was available they still turned in their pick with 11 minutes left on the clock. they made their decision and they were going to take Locker no matter what. they obviously know more than anyone else.

    here's my two pennies
this is munch's first year... and he's going to get his guy along with it..... that guy needs to be a leader and that's what locker to him is...
what we (and I) think we should've went defense... there is nobody else that'll make a bigger impact to the game than a QB..

I have no love for Locker but there is no question the Titans needed a quarterback who has a decent chance to succeed. Clearly they felt Locker was the best of the class except maybe for Newton. We will see how this works out.

I have no indication that they could have gotten the deal Cleveland got. If they could have, I would have liked to see them add the extra picks, but I doubt they had that opportunity.

OK, who are the top talents left after the first round that the Titans should target in the second round?

While nothing yet has proven MIN would go Locker, it makes it more likely, or plausible. The Vikes may say otherwise, but I didn't see many who had Ponder projected higher, and certainly not in this strata. I find Locker at 8 a helluva lot less crazy-sounding than Ponder at 12! So I guess I'm mildly pumped today. Locker in all honesty looks like he can be a beast. Maybe I'll go from "mildly" to "wildly" over the years. As well, I'm hardly jealous of any of the other picks. Detroit can take the risk for Fairley. Good for them if he pans out. The bottom line is - the Crazy was in when the Falcons went up to 6. Because there is such a gap in talent level, it forces this kind of kind of unpredictability for all teams, moreso than in other years. And versus Tyson Alualua and Blaine Gabber for the Jags at #10 in back-to-back years...I'm really okay with the Titans' decision today.
