If the Titans are to draft a QB in round-2, which seems to be the favorite of a little more than half of this forum, then ROUND-2 WILL BE A KEY PICK ...

if your titans fan, then we all know the titans/oilers have made some ... lets call it "BLUNDERS" in terms of 2nd round picks that for whatever reason never have worked out. just for fun since the draft is now 2 days away, lets recap ... but basically my point here is the 2nd round WILL BE A KEY ROUND and LET HOPE WE GET IT RIGHT FOR ONCE ...

(only looking at true 2nd round picks, excluding players drafted second but were in rounds 3 etc)

2009 - Sen'Derrick Marks DT the verdict is still out on him however injuries and being buried on a rotating depth chart which has equaled unbalanced opportunity to stay in games has not helped his production

2008 - Jason Jones DE/DT probably the most potential of ANY of the titans 2nd round picks in the last decade and still could be a true force in this league yet hes had his fair share of the injury bug thus far in his short career

2007 - Chris Henry RB drafted soley on his speed and at the time the Titans already had Travis Henry on their roster, making this a confusion short-lived runningback by committee tandem and didnt last long ... most remembered for being "jacked up" on a kickoff return against the colts

2006 - Len "Whale" White RB ate himself out of the league basically. Had a productive one or two years and then all of the sudden was phased out completely, even on goalline carries, in favor of a 90/10 ratio workload for CJ 2K during his great 2010 year

2005 - Michael Roos T hands down the Titans best 2nd round pick in recent memory. Cornerstone of the o-line and has been coached and guided by the new head coach himself hall of famer Mike Munchak and will be guided by yet another Oilers hall of famer Bruce Matthews

2004 - Benjamin Troupe TE, Travis LaBoy DE and Antwan Odom DE - LaBoy and Odom were decent contributors but not really worthy of 2nd round status now looking back, both were sack machines but thats about it. While Troupe had all the potential in the world but "couldn't catch a cold" and most remembered for his leaping ability over defenders (see youtube clip vs raiders)

2003 - Tyrone Calico WR , after finally drafting a WR which didnt happen often even way back in the early 2000's and after hearing comparisons to a thinner version of Terrell Owens, I regrettibly ran out and bought a Tyron Calico jersey ... needless to say I wore it all but twice ... :sad2:

2002 - Tank Williams S - with a name like tank youd expect him to be tough ... always injured, but still made a semi-impact in the secondary when healthy

2001 - Andre Dyson CB after drafting his brother in the 1st round back in 1998, they decide to draft his younger brother with their first pick in the 01 draft (2nd round), he had a semi-solid/mediocre career at best which eventually ended in new york, but for all intense and purposes was a good #2 corner

1999 - "Big" John Thornton DE - admittingly I didnt do my homework on this guy and this was quite a ways back but going off name recognition, he didnt make much of an impact on the team ...

1998/1997 (Tennessee Oilers) Samari Rolle CB and Joey Kent WR

Rolle probably still is the Titans/Oilers best cornerback in franchise history, at least for sure in "Titan" only history ... Chris Dishman may be the best overall but thats debatable

so with all this being said - PLEASE LETS HOPE THE 2ND ROUND PICK WORKS OUT THIS YEAR ... BECAUSE IT JUST MAYYYYYY BE OUR NEXT FRANCHISE QUARTERBACK ...

I'd say roughly half of those picks are good. I'll take half. Also, Thornton was good, he played for 10 seasons.

How is Rolle being the best Corner the Titans ever had sad? He was one of the best in the league for a number of years.

Andre Dyson was a very solid corner also.

Dyson got a lot of passes his way because Rolle was on the other side, but he was a pretty good number two during his time here.

Not a bad record of second round picks at all in my opinion...
