Amen there. Mock Drafts, All of our opinions ... they all mean squat ... I mean a shirtless guy holding a budweiser sitting on a foldout chair browsing blogs saying "titans cant pick locker because hes inaccurate and shaky in the pocket ..." uhhh are you guys paid professionals? are you guys paid scouts who fly state to state and get paid to study every mechanic and work ethic these players posses? These are just all peoples pointless opinions thats what all these blogs and forums are about ... peoples own personal opinions - and with that being said "MALLET SUCKS!" lol

Yes, but there are so many teams that NEED a QB. You can't just wait for the CBA and hope you can land Bulger, McNabb, or another one of the QBs.. or trade for Kolb. If the Titans don't draft a QB, than swing and miss on all the decent FA QBs.. who is going to our starting QB? KC or Rusty Smith... I sure hope not.

Out of the Top 10 teams the Bengals, Arizona, 49ers, Titans, and Washington need a STARTING QB. Then Buffalo and Carolina may also take a QB. That's 7 out of 10 teams could use a QB this year. Teams may pannick because of the CBA problems and reach on QBs, sadly I think it will happen.

    Um...

While I will address the Locker concept in this thread in another post, I will take a moment to answer your question.

Against Clemson, Newton completed a grand total of 7 passes. SEVEN!!! And while he did throw for 200 yds and 2 of his 7 completions were TD's, he only completed 50% of his passes and of those 14 attempts, 2 were intercepted. He was more of a rb in the game but was held to a 4 ypc avg and 2 of his teammates had more yards rushing and had better YPC.

Perhaps more telling was that he got outplayed by the other team's QB - Kyle Parker who was 20-34 for 220 yards, 2 TD's and 0 INT's.

And while Newton has very good numbers in general, there are 3 games in which his completion % is below 60, 3 games in which he failed to throw more TD's than INT's, and in half his games he didn't have at least 20 passing attempts (which he won't be able to get away with in the NFL).

No need to respond to this...just putting it out there for your perusal.

    Um...

I agree with you to some extent, but here's the problem. If you draft a QB in this draft, there is a high probability a FA QB will be starting next year and unless we CAN land one of the guys we want, KC is our likely starter next year.

Which of the QB's in this draft will start for their teams next year?

None of us has a crystal ball and certainly a guy like Locker could turn out to be a fine QB.

You have to take the information you have and go with that. He has never been an outstanding college QB! To draft him at 8 means we are not going to get one of those great defensive linemen to help our defense.

Jon Gruden basically called him a bonehead for lowering his right shoulder into a tackler while running the ball. "You throw with that shoulder" he said.

Locker is a runner. I thought some of you didn't want another one of those types of Qbs. Or is it ok with him because his pigmentation makes it so? Or because he isn't so good and dominant as a runner as another QB prospect we all know?

He just is not a good enough prospect to take 8th!

The paid professionals are wrong 50% of the time. They make some of the dumbest decisions you can imagine.

A paid professional drafted Lawrence Phillips. A paid professional drafted David Carr 1st!

Even the paid professionals will fixate on one thing, a 40 time or a Qbs strong arm.

Jake Locker is supposed to have a great arm but his career yards per attempts is below 7 yards. And Locker didn't play in a one step and throw dink and dunk no huddle offense like the one Gabbert played in.

He has never been a great yardage producer!

And then there are those like you that PRETEND these "experts" make better decisions than any other casual football fan. They don't.

Sorry- experts drafted Jamarcus Russell, when I could have EASILY told them that was a stupid pick at any place in the draft. Chris Henry? Yeah, you get the point.

These "experts" are just guys that needed a job and knew the right people. I or anyone on this forum can do just as good a job as they do.

Any QB drafted in the top 10 should be out there playing. Recent history tells us they have started as rookies.

If we draft Jake Locker with that 8th pick and i see Rusty smith or Kerry Collins out there starting i'm going to want to throw a brick at the tv.

In the last 5 drafts there have only been 7 QBs taken in the top 10 picks. 3 of them were first picks. Many of the QBs starting as rookies were not even drafted in the top 10 like Flacco who was the 18th pick.

So the Ravens can start a small college guy picked 18th as a rookie but Jake Locker can't start? If they think he is worth an 8th pick they better have the balls to play him.

What shocks me is how these experts with all this information and scouting reports will make a decision on a guy or will not draft a guy on one single thing. Like 40 time. Draft a guy who runs a 4.37 but had a linebacker like shuttle and cone.

You have to look at everything.
