Well my other great teams are Michigan, Detroit Tigers, Memphis...

Thank god Kobe plays for the Lakers or I wouldnt have become a fan of them. Outside of that, there are the Redwings, but I'm not big on hockey- so that does little for me.

Never understood cheering for teams all over the country. I've lived all over the place but Tennessee is always home. I've always been confused by people who support teams in cities the don't live in, never have lived in and maybe just visited once or twice.

I'm a Tennessee native and Tennessee alum.
I go Titans, Preds, Grizz(playoffs!) and Vols.
I support the Braves but if Tennessee ever got a team I'd dump them immediately...

I always get in to it with my friends who like soccer. Cheering for teams halfway around the world in countries some of them have never even been to.
I love soccer and played it. I am patiently waiting for a MLS team in Tennessee. I'd settle for Atlanta.
I will not support foreign clubs.

So you're required to like hometown teams?

I'm like you and prefer to go for the home town teams. Makes no sense for me to have teams scattered all over the country.

But now I don't even live in TN anymore but have stayed a Titan fan. Haven't been gone long for one and the closest option to where I am now are Carolina and the Falcons for football. I'm still a UT fan as well although closest to South Carolina (did enjoy watching them win the college WS). I can also still call the Bears my second team since there is little conflict with the Titans and the Bears were my team growing up in IL.

I think teams closer to where you live are just easier to follow but people move around so much these days. I've never really been a Braves fan, still follow the Cubs partly because I can still watch many of their games (baseball is boring to me now).

Never did get on the Grizzlies either. Was a huge Bulls fan through the Jordan years and never gave them up.

    No.....
But there is a certain pride in cheering for a team that represents where you are from. Your home.

I live in WV.. sooooo..... the only teams here is WVU and to a lesser extent, Marshall.. I graduated from WVU so obviously I cheer for whatever they do... but I'll also pull for Marshall...
For NFL, almost everyone here is a steelers fan.... which makes me puke. I'm a Titans fan, through thick and thin..
NBA - Lakers... my cousin got me into them during Kobe's rookie year... and he lives in LA and watches game at the Staples Center But I'm more of a Fisher fan..
and MLB - Blue Jays fan.. only b/c I've been to a lot of their games when I go up to Toronto to visit friends
and... any team that plays pittsburgh teams and boston teams

To say that you don't understand cheering for teams around the country is a bit ignorant.. Where I live, there is only a college team... We're not all fortunate like you are in Tennessee

Not sure how that is a bit ignorant. I just have pride in where I'm from. You seem to do the same... I understand some people become attached to teams/clubs for various reasons. I'm sure some of those reasons could even be considered legitimate but I choose to support teams around me. It is no big deal. I'll take a Titans fan from anywhere.

Off topic..... or back on in this case.
Colin Kaepernick would be a terrible choice. If we miss on every other QB and he is still there in the 3rd I might be okay with it. He seems a little Pat White/Dennis Dixon ish.
He had a good college career but I fear he may never be anymore than just that. I just don't see how he translates to the NFL. I put Locker, Ponder, Mallet and Stanzi above him. Not Newton... I take Kaepernick above him lol.

Some of us have lived other places than Tennessee. What then? Kinda throws a wrench in your argument, doesn't it?

And since you like the Titans (Nashville), the Predators (Nashville), Grizzlies (Memphis) and Vols (Knoxville) you don't even support your own logic.

Why would you be a UT fan instead of a Vanderbilt? TSU? Etc...

I don't think anyone really only supports the teams closest to where they're from. It's just geographical location.

You're cheating yourself when it comes to soccer. Find a team with a favorite player or 2 and follow them.. they'll grow on you.

Most of us do due to familiarity. Access to games, etc.
