I wasn't making that statement based on global popularity. I was basing it on extremely boring "sports".

Thing is- Americans suck at soccer, thus the only reason they hate on it.

Anyone can golf- so people like it.

    So why have the

    "Americans..."

    in your post at all?

Whether it's boring or accessible or whatever you are trying to say, it's a very popular global sport so I don't get the "Americans..." comment at all.

Because Americans are pretty much the only ones that dislike soccer??

And they just so happen to suck at it, generally?

    That's why.

You worded your post terribly then.

You do know 29,000 people showed up on a Tuesday night (last week) at LP Field to watch USA play Paraguay in a meaningless friendly?

Ok, just more uninformed Gloat nonsense, nothing to see here, moving along.

The reason Americans "dislike" soccer if thats what we're going to call it, isn't because it's corny and lame, well yea that too, but because we have like 40 different choices as kids on what to take an interest in. Kids in other countries have far less to pick and choose from, and since all it takes is a soccer ball and a field, soccer is easier to get going than any other sport. That's why it's popular worldwide, not because it's some fantastic sport. Put a quality football league anywhere, and see if soccer doesn't take a hit. We've seen what the Chinese do with a sport once they figure it out. China may take over the NBA some day with all those billion potential prospects its now producing.

Yes... I do...as I was one of them.

in what way have you argued against my point? lol

    It still remains true.

You do know what the word "generally" means, do you not?

    Nope.

Soccer has been the most popular sport amongst America's youth for about 15 years now... so that excuse doesn't work.

Granted, it is growing... and eventually will be very popular here once we stop wasting our talents on stupid sports like baseball.

Once all the old farts die out, it'll rise...

It's interesting that in countries with other football codes, Soccer is not the most popular of those codes.

This is what I know from my time on this forum. You are close minded and ignorant.

Your "generally" came in after this statement...

"And they just so happen to suck at it, generally?"

If you'll use your powers of reading comprehension you'll notice I've never made any statement regarding Americans abilities at soccer.

What I do contest is that soccer is unpopular in America. Obviously it's not the most popular sport. But you want to make BROAD GENERALIZATIONS for SHOCK VALUE. Might as well state all black people are poor and from the ghetto and all Muslims are terrorists, has as much validity as Americans dislike soccer. Or just state dog fighting and hunting are exactly the same with no difference whatsoever. Oh, wait you've already done that.

If soccer is such an unpopular and hated sport in American than why did 29,000 Americans from Nashville, TN go see a meaningless soccer game on a Tuesday night? For what it's worth, there was also a very meaningful and sold-out hockey game to compete with the same night.

Well, I go for the soccer moms...

Hockey moms are my consolation prize.
