"Newton stuff"? What is your gig Locker stuff?

I have no control over any of these events but 5 years from now just remember this debate. Only 7 votes for Newton out of 67 total that is moronic.

It's never just about the titans it is about the players.

I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything. Sure, I might have a QB or two that I like more than the others, but I'm not campaigning for those guys because I acknowledge that I have no idea who's gonna bust and who isn't. You're spending a lot of time posting Newton stats for a bunch of people who aren't going to be convinced. All I'm saying is that you probably don't need to bother. We all know you love Newton and you'll get credit for it if he turns out to be a superstar.

    Well...

His passing stats are impressive...except for three things.

First, his low attempts # means he could run whenever the guy he was supposed to throw to was covered - and he did this very well. He WON'T be able to do that in the NFL.

Second, his Wonderlic means there is a HIGH chance he's a bust - especially when you consider the offense he came from and how much he'll have to learn to do physically AND mentally. He is well below the 25 or 26 threshold so history is definitely against him.

Third, Vince Young and Tim Tebow had similar kinds of stats and neither is looking like a top 10 pick atm. Alex Smith also had similar kinds of numbers and he hasn't lit the league on fire either. If those kinds of stats excite you, we could just keep VY or sign Alex Smith...

Now, COULD Newton become an awesome player? Yes, but the odds are seriously stacked against him!

He had a better wonderlic score than Mcnair, Mcnabb, Jim Kelly or Dan Marino.

His score was the same as Mcnair and VY combined.

    That comment makes no sense.

As for VY his only problem is his attitude not his talent or what offense he played in at Texas. Tebow played very well as a rookie last year. Tebow had a higher passing rating than everybody's darling Bradford.

Comparing Newton to Smith is silly since Newton is an elite runner.

How would that be a bad thing for a young QB? Over time he has to learn his progressions but running instead of forcing the ball or getting sacked is not a bad thing.

He'll take off running and gain 6 yards on third and 9 and the announcers will say he made a bad decision but a 6 yard run is better than losing 6 on a sack and far preferrable to an int.

Look at Mcnair in 97 his first year as a starter and we have an idea what Newton would be like as a rookie. Mcnabb was like that in 2000.

Actually sccording to this site Mcnabb scored a 14. Randall Cunningham scored a 15 and Terry Bradshaw scored a 15. Don't draft any of those guys, high probability of failure!

I don't even believe that low Wonderlic scores really matter, but I will point out that you are using some pretty flawed arguments. Pointing out 3 players who had low Wonderlic scores but went on to be successful doesn't prove anything. It's purely anecdotal and I hope people can see that.

so then why are so many people making such a big deal about it then and saying that since they have a low wonderlic score they are going to be a bust and throwing out that its harder for people to succeed with a low wonderlic score and its obvious those statements arent true as posted above...
