I don't know about anyone else, but I'm a culprit of claiming to love movies, and yet not seeing a lot of so-called classic films. Films that are often times considered required viewing for certain genres.

The dynamic is though, that the longer I wait to see them, the more embarrassed I become and therefore put off seeing them even more so. It's a tragic, vicious cycle. But, I am here being courageous and hoping to give a little courage too to those in the great embarrassment closet. Come on out, folks, it's a brand new day:

    My Growing Embarrassment List:

Close Encounters of the Third Kind
    It's A Wonderful Life
    The Pianist
    L.A. Confidential
    The Elephant Man
    Groundhog Day
    The Bourne Series
    Magnolia
    Philadelphia
    Das Boot
    Vertigo
    Dial M For Murder
    Rear Window

Start with that one, one of my favorites, starts off a little slow like you'd expect from this type of movie, but the last 90 minutes will blow you away. Just a hauntingly beautiful movie that will be stuck in your head for some time after seeing it. And Adrien Brody is absolutely amazing in it.

Just saw Goodfellas recently. It's now one of my favorites. I was embarrassed about that one for a while.

    My current list:

    The Godfather
    Rocky movies
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
    City of God
    Leon: The Professional
    Apocalypse Now
    The Exorcist

    Plenty of others as well.

RSB- You'll like City of God, Rocky, and One Flew Over.

    My list:

Heat (which reminds me of Jim Gaffigan)
    The Pianist
    Casablanca
    Caddyshack
    The Lord of The Rings
    Animal House
    Memento

The professional was not that good, IMO. Forgettable enough for me.

But one flew over was pretty good, but I wouldn't call it a "can't miss" unless you know you like depressing movies going in.

    ......what?

anyways.. Casanova is the only one that I can think of... I took a class on classical films (needed it as a filler) and watched most of it...

However, I don't watch a lot of movies nowadays either... I've missed most of the big names movies currently.. It wouldn't surprise me that whatever gets best picture at the oscars is a movie i haven't seen

Guess I can take 'The Pianist' off the list, thanks to Netflix. Pretty good movie, though seemed to drag for a while.

Caddyshack and Animal House are two of top comedy movies of all time.

I also liked Memento and The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
