First off, you're right. Everything we say right now is just pure speculation. There are so many other factors that go into a player's success, like scheme, unpredictable growth spurts, coaching, etc.

However, you claim to know NFL prospects, but you just compared PP to Jenkins? Jenkins was a personal favorite of mine coming out of Ohio State, and he is nothing like PP. If anything, they are polar opposites. Jenkins had great hips, great mirroring skills, and was one of the best press corners I've ever seen. His weakness was speed, hence the shift to FS. PP, while big, excels when he plays off, so that he can break on the ball. PP has some of the best closing speed I've ever seen from a CB, but lacks the fluid hips to flip and stick on fast WRs. All that being said, I don't think the Saints should have put Jenkins at FS. He was the NFL's best nickel CB when they won the Super Bowl, and he deserves a chance to play CB.

Finally, you talk about ESPN's hype wagon, but aren't you the one that has Von Miller as the #1 prospect? Miller's entire resume was built by Todd McShay, and some poor team like the Cardinals are now going to take him early. You think Quinn is the one trick pony, but you're wrong, it's Miller. Miller only has one move, the speed rush, and at 240 pounds it makes sense (he played the season at 237). He doesn't have the strength to do anything else. Hell, Taylor Mays is only a few pounds lighter (same height), and he plays safety.

Miller doesn't need hype. His play LEAPS out at you. There's no way you can watch him in games an not notice him, unlike guys like Dareus, Peterson, etc.

Todd McShay also is the only reason Blaine Gabbert is being talked about. However, Gabbert has done absolutely nothing and the tape only illustrates that.

I meant Malcom Jenkins as far as hype/nfl result goes... not so much exact styles. They're both hyped due to athleticism... and not much else.

Dareus doesn't leap out at you because he plays DE in the 3-4. Peterson doesn't leap out at you because he plays CB, they only get mentioned when they mess up. You have to be able to project players to the pro level, Miller just doesn't fit the bill for me.

If you truly followed the NFL draft year long, you would know that Gabbert did not just come out of nowhere. Here's proof that he was talked about before McShay.

This WAS a thread about Quinn, and I was really interested to see what you all thought of him. not that we are playing a 7 tech I don't think we should draft him at 8. I would rather have fairley/dareus/bowers/pp in that order. watt is fantastic but i think he fits a DE in a 34 much better. WE will probably keep babin for veteran depth but he is small. Morgan is perfect for our new system.

Gabbert did come out of nowhere. Sorry. He wasn't talked about at all one week- and the next was on everyone's board.

Whether he was expected to end up as a top prospect or not- he did in fact blow up overnight.

And he's done NOTHING to warrant ANY talk. Much less top 10 pick talk... so at least figuratively, if nothing else, he came from nowhere. He's been nowhere and is going nowhere.

i do agree with you that hes not top 10 material. Only reason why he is now because Luck stayed and Cam has issues. Also i am convinced if todd and mel dont have a qb in their top 10 prospects they get whacked by mngmt. He by no means came out of no where, thats just you hating...whats new

But he DID come out of nowhere...whether you care to admit that or not.

If a prospect isn't on anyone's board one week... then is on everyone's board 2 weeks after... that's coming out of nowhere.

That's because no one expected him to declare. Every sign pointed to him staying. People in the know were well aware of him.

    People in the know?

He sucks. lol Which is exactly why no one expected him to declare.

People that listen to ESPN, maybe... but they're definitely not in "the know".
