I really don't know how good the guy is, but I think it's absolutely silly that some of you are saying stuff like "he knows he's a pretender...he knows he is a fraud". Come on, the guy is a 21 year old kid that just wants to play football for a living. He's not trying to trick anybody. Most quarterbacks don't throw at the combine. The year we drafted Young, Cutler was the only QB of the top 3 to throw at the combine, and he was the last one of them picked.

Gabbert doesn't know how his career will turn out, NFL GMs don't know how his career will turn out, and nobody here knows how his career will turn out. So I think suggesting that he isn't throwing at the combine because "he knows he is a fraud" is a really dumb premise.

I dont think its so necessarily that far off to say that he knows he's a fraud. He's been hyped to be the #1 QB coming out this year..really only because the crop of QBs coming out this year is sub par. I don't think he wants to put himself on display directly against the other guys in fear some of that hype may wear off.

Although I dont necessarily swear by the combine..I certainly do respect a guy more thats willing to put himself out there. I've been watching a lot of NFL Network of late..and they've been having little combine skits of other guys drafted. And one is by Ndamukong Suh and he says something along the lines of "..I wanted to go out there and show I was as good as people said..and that I had nothing to hide". This guy was rated higher than anyone coming out this year...and could have very well gone #1..yet still went out there to say "yes..I am that good". Thats the kind of guy I want on my team

I want someone who WANTS to go out there and distinguish himself from the rest...not just ride the wave

He couldn't differentiate himself, because throwing better than he ever has in his life still isn't going to answer the questions about coming from the spread and making multiple reads.
