Ineligible for the Senior Bowl? No he wasn't a senior so he didn't have a choice.

No workouts? Most top QB prospects don't throw at the combine which is the first chance for draft eligible players to workout so technically nobody has worked out in front of scouts as of yet. He will have a pro day so don't panic.

Sam Bradford came from a spread offense and he adjusted fairly well; Tom Brady was a 6th round pick; The shotgun formation is used quite a lot (not sure of the overall percentages though); definitely showed he could lead Auburn back from a 24 point deficit against Alabama........all these facts -> I'm very torn about this QB rookie.
Yes, if you look at the whole picture, mechanics, footwork, arm strength, physical size, running capability, you have to admit that there is a great potential for an outstanding NFL player, but due to the events of this (our) teams past, we all are very apprehensive about drafting this candidate.
I am going to be very interested in his interview process, when MEN will be asking pointed questions and how he scores on the wonderlic test.
I am currently leaning away, but could be leaning towards selecting him at #8, if he is still there, but most likely he will be gone and all this conversation will be for naught.

did it in 14 games so how can you say that fairley isnt a one year player either since he only started in 14 games....plus being called dirty and the penalties? im just trying to make a point that he is going to be a good qb in the nfl due to his work ethic...if he is mentored properly he will succeed if he is thrown into fire he will fail i am afraid....same thing with any rookie unless the offense adjusts to him

Actually St. Louis adjusted to him, and his strengths. Worked out pretty well so far.

Ideally you'd like your next QB to come from an NFL-like system, but it doesn't mean that much (see Rusty Smith).

Is this really true? In the past few days he's said some of the worst things a draft prospect could say. His team of people need to tell him to shut his mouth.

Coaches and general manager hate hearing stuff like that.

I agree that it's good the Newton is going to participate in drills at the Combine, but it will probably have little effect on his draft position. Everyone knows he has all the physical tools you would want.

He is going to make or break his chance at a top 3 pick in the interview rooms. It's his intelligence, character and work ethic that teams are concerned about. Everyone knows he can throw and run. Teams will try to figure out whether he's full of himself and not interested in doing that it takes to become an elite QB.

The more Newton talks, the more he sounds like Vince Young.

His personality and all? Yeah, he's very likable... hard to hate, really- and everyone knows I want to.

I still think he'll suck. I still think he should have been ineligible for the NC game. I still think he's a criminal... but a likable one.

Fair enough. I interpreted "the way he talks" to mean the things he says, but I won't argue that he has a likable personality.

I hate it also, nothing worse than seeing a blossoming star's celebrity take his football career away. But as far as sounding like Vince, no way. Cam is smarter, he'll do well in these upcoming interviews.
