To be fair, Styx was always false rock and Barf Brooks was always a sellout..
He was a legendary KISS fan who had a "job" pretending to be a cowboy onstage smashing acoustic guitars..

I like Styx. They are a bit over-the top at times, but I like them. The overall gayness of it was purely DeYoung, I believe. But I liked him in some of the songs. Good ballads if you're into that sort of thing.

Tommy shaw and JY are monsters on guitar though.

Known as "Pioneers of progressive rock." I wasn't around in the 70's and too young in the 80's to confirm or deny that.

And as far as Mr. Chris Gaines, I was never a fan anyway of him or any country music, just under the impression that he was regarded as "good."

And speaking of KISS, in that vein, what about the infamous disco?

Mr. Roboto was definitely Dennis DeYoung taking over, though. I'm not a big Styx fan, but that was the worst of the worst :) DeYoung is false rock at its falsest.

Fortunately, I know next to nothing about Brooks and/or his alter ego

Deyoung is showtunes with guitars. He's doing a tour now with entire orchestras.

Blue Collar Man, Renegade, and Fooling Yourself are my favorites, and I wouldn't necessarily call them false rock BTW. Deyoung, when he's not singing is an incredible keyboard player. But he's an egotistical madman.

And Tommy Shaw has not lost a step. I saw him earlier this year in my town, and a few years ago, and he's still got the skills. They impressed.

I saw the Goo Goo Dolls last year, with their singer over 10 years younger than Shaw, and they were piss-poor live. Overall, one of the more boring headliners I have seen, and this is coming from a person who has seen Seal live, and loved it.

False rock is tongue in cheek for anything that won't fly inside the garage. :)

So that's why Garth Brooks was one of the only half-decent country music singers...

    he was faking it.

Ludacris doesn't act like a hard though.

When rap started, it was all about fun. I don't think it's such a bad thing for them to get back in to that rather than studio-gangster mode.

And I'm betting Run DMC would have done a track with a kid Michael Jackson in a heartbeat.

They did a song with Aerosmith- a pop group.

    Aerosmith------Justin Bieber.

Run DMC was breaking ground on something unseen before then, and not with cheesy middle school lyrics. Ludacris is a grown man.

and congratulations on being the first person in history to in any way compare Aerosmith and Justin Bieber.
