I'd say Fisher's next playoff win (if any) would be with another team. I don't think we are close enough to being a playoff team...unless Manning gets IR'd and we make it with 6 wins.

As for 7 win teams getting in the NFC, with the Falcons and Saints and Bucs in that division there won't be a 7 win team representing that division

Makes about as much sense as not wanting to get a pay raise so you can save money on income tax.

The point is - and always is - get to the postseason, not get to the postseason dependant on who the coach is.

If in some bizarro world Fisher gets a new 5 year contract (after that horrific scenario where the team does well :cuckoo: ) he's still going to have to win to not get fired subsequently - especially as Bud will very likely step down in the next few and Adams the younger is going to put his brand on this team.

Banish the thought that a Fisher playoff team might still have better or at least even chances the following season than a losing team with a new coach the following season. I know many of you are still pretty young so maybe it broken down more clearly that new coach does not always guarantee winning seasons.

The " I hope we lose so we get rid of Fisher" circle jerk is pure and simple idiot-think.

I don't think Fisher wants an extension beyond next year. He's said he wants to end his career here, he never said he wanted his career to go on past next year.

I think he'll take his 6.5 mill next year and take a break. Have you seen him lately, he looks burned out. Not many people can handle the stress of being a head coach in the NFL for the number of years he's been one. Most NFL coach's take a break after a while. Look at Cowher, Parcells, etc, most need to recharge.

I fully expect that to happen.. Retire to the ranch for a few years - makes total sense..

Ooook, if he loses all the time now and keeps his job what makes you think he'll get canned for future losses?? Miraculously Bud will live till he is 120 years old, so Fisher can have all of his failing 6-10, 7-9 and 8-8 seasons he wants, he knows he will still be sticking around to the behest of us fans.
