    Mallett is not accurate enough to take that high. Locker is hard to evaluate because he played with a weak team. Some teams were able to shut him down but was it his fault?

    I want a freak with that 8th pick and Newton is that guy. If they believe his character and maturity are worth that pick i think it is a no brainer.

    I want a guy who is as big and strong as a LB, fast as a RB, and a QB rating this year of 188 (28TDs, 6 ints).

    Just say no to Cam Newton. Run first QBs do not win in the NFL. It really doesn't matter anyways, Fisher will trade for or sign a veteran and use the #8 overall pick on an impact defensive player to try and win now.

    I guess that is why Duece doesn't like him. Just like he thinks that a coach with a 16% winning percentage is superior to one with a 54% winning percentage.

    The bizzaro poster. If a guy is lights out talented he doesn't want him.

    Run first? He averaged 200 yards passing a game and has the best passing stats in the country.

    So having the best QB rating in the country doesn't matter because he happened to lead the SEC in rushing.

    Against the best SEC teams, when Newton had to pass to win he was brilliant.
    In fact he had 5 ints in the first 6 games of the year. In the second half of the season, playing teams Arkansas, LSU, Miss, Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina he had one int. His completion % was 67%, his rating 188 for the year. His last game against South Carolina he threw for over 300 yards, 4 TDs, no ints.

    Tim Tebow had better numbers his sophomore year (first year as starter like Cam), did anyone want him as a top 10 pick then? No. It was the system, same with Cam. The system at Auburn is very QB friendly, don't get me wrong, Cam is an unreal talent. But he is not NFL ready. He has to be taught to take the snap under center, drop back, go through progressions, and find the open receiver. Tebow, like Cam was a "read-run" QB. You drop back, if your first option is not there you run and move the chains. Can both be successful NFL QBs, yes, but it will take time. Fisher doesn't have time, which is why Cam will not be the pick.

    I really like Christian Ponder. He'd be a great 3rd round pick.

    • Doesn't have a great arm, but can make all of the NFL throws
    • Has a tight delivery and quick release
    • Throws with great accuracy
    • Puts good touch on passes downfield
    • Generally displays good footwork
    • Has the athleticism to pull the ball down and run with it
    • Slides well in the pocket to avoid pressure
    • Very intelligent player
    • Very smart person. Ponder graduated in 2 1/2 years with a 3.73 GPA, and is studying for his second graduate degree
    • Has good field vision and goes through his progressions well, does a good job of finding his second and third options when his initial target is covered
    • Reads and adjusts well to defenses before the snap
    • He's decent size: 6'3 220+
    • Has decent college stats: Passing: 596 Cmp/965 Att (61.8), 6872 Yds, 49 TD, 30 INT, 132.1 QB Rating. Rushing: 296 Att, 833 Yds, 2.8 Avg, 10 TD as a 3-yr starter. (13 of his 30 INTs came from his 1st year as a starter)
