lol. Two of the best QBs of all time were Montana and Brady. And you want to tell me a HoFer will never be drafted after the first round again?

And WHERE did I say that? Oh yeah, I didn't. What are you pulling a Deuce Wayne or RollTide on me here?

It's ridiculous to think a team should NEVER draft a QB in the late rounds or that a late round QB will NEVER develop into an incredible QB.

Some picks have a higher potential to bust than others is what I meant. All the people in the draft are not on even playing terms.

I can name just as many QBs taken in rd 1 that suck as much as those guys.

QBs in general are more miss than hit.

But I'm going to bump this thread here in 3 years when Scott Tolzien and Tyler Palko are the 2 best QBs in the NFL!

Yeah! TYLER PALKO BIACH! I said it!!

I don't need you to approve of Locker, I could care less if you like him so no I'm not going to try and sell you on him. Especially if you said it's impossible.

I understand you like to be "controversial" but there's a difference between bold predictions and being an idiot. Please take it back.

Eddy, my point was that in about 5 different threads Ive said that I do not believe right now there is a franchise QB in this draft worthy of a #8 overall pick. I have also said that Locker could be if he proves in the Senior Bowl that his performance will be that of a franchise QB if he has talent around him close to what he is facing. You constantly disagree with this, saying you believe Locker is a franchise QB right now. I have watched Locker a lot, and read about him a lot. If you have an opinion on Locker that is different then mine I would love to hear it. Not to argue, but just to debate. Personally I do not believe we will take a QB round 1 for one reason, Fisher is in his last year of his contract. He will want to use the pick on an impact defensive player that can come in and play immediately. I also do not believe it is smart to draft a QB in round 1, unless we plan on having Fisher here for more then the 2011 season, which I dont think anyone wants. Assuming Fisher is replaced at the end of the season when his contract is up, the new coach should be able to pick his QB without being locked into someone that was taken early the year before. Denver is about to go through this, and Peter King reported that there is a chance they trade Tebow. It is just not a good situation to put a new coach in, and it would limit our choices based on if the coaches believed in the draft pick or not.

But who plays QB if we don't draft one? We go through the whole season with Collins we may as well just start negotiating with Luck now.

Why do I like Locker? I think he's got a strong arm, mobile, lots of experience against good teams, good mechanics, clutch, big, and a leader. What I don't like necessarily is he didn't win a lot and maybe injury concerns. But his team was incredibly bad, that's why you can't look at his stats. His stats don't show how he had 0 time to throw, no receivers open and drops.

Well there's Brady, Montana, Romo (kinda), and Warner. Who else is a later round pick or undrafted that's turned out REALLY good? If you're drafting a late round QB expect a backup at best. If you're drafting a 2nd or 3rd round QB expecting a franchise QB prepare to be disappointed.

    I don't disagree with that.

I disagree with the premise "Drafting QBs after Day 1 is a blatant waste of a pick". You just never know. I wouldn't expect any 6th round to turn into a Brady. But it happened so I wouldn't say it's just a waste to draft a QB late round.

Kyle Orton was a 4th round pick and some people (not me) want him as our QB next year.
