    Thats my guy.

I was almost completely sold during the Sugar Bowl that he was going to be a stud. And I'm almost happy he threw that pick at the end of the game because if he leads that comeback he's probably going to get picked before #8.

For the Tennessee Titans, I don't see a better fit than a small town southern quarterback like a Mallett. Not a lot of hype or fame surrounding him like there was Young. Has the arm to make all the throws, great footwork from what I can see. Mechanics look good and with a 6'6 240 lb frame, hes the prototypical NFL quarterback.

Mallett isn't a scrambler, which differs him from Jake Locker. I think this benefits Mallet's pro prospects because Locker has the tendency to scramble whenever he feels pressure, not allowing him to progress through his reads or let the play develop. Which is a skill he still hasn't fully achieved. Mallett on the other hand will use both sides of the field to find an open receiver and throw it on a line with velocity, no more VY touch passes.

I realize its a highlight video, I couldn't find any game film on him. But use it for what its worth. Notice when Mallett doesn't see a window on his first read, he doesn't tuck it and run or throw the ball away, he progresses to his 2nd, 3rd, and sometimes 4th read of the play and makes a great throw. He can throw on the move, step up, and even has a nice deep ball touch.

I'm hoping he's there at #8 and we pick him, I feel like he can be a better version of Big Ben and a franchise QB.

He could work in our system. If Kerry Collins can do it, so can he. But, I think with his character concerns, the Titans will probably stay away from him. His intelligence has also been questioned (unwarranted?), and Bobby Petrino's system is very simple for QBs. Needless to say, his biggest weaknesses are his footwork, accuracy (looks improved from last season), and overall character.

EDIT: He works out of the shotgun a lot. Doesn't step into throws, but he doesn't need to, he generates enough power just standing still. I don't know how often he'll get clean pockets in the NFL, he'll have to learn to slide in the pocket. I think he has good pocket awareness, because I've seen him dump it off to his back when he feels pressure. But, his legs don't respond, he's slow to react, which leads to sacks. Accuracy is okay when he isn't rushed, but it's horrible with any pressure or on the move. Short accuracy still needs work, doesn't lead the WR/RB. Makes some pretty poor decisions at inopportune times, could be he trusts his arm too much.

Mallet has next to no pocket presence and tends to get flustered when defenders are in his face. There are also rumors of him doing drugs and having other character issues. He also barley took snaps from center in Nick Saban's offense. Also, when he speaks he just sounds stupid. Stupid people don't make good quarterbacks.

Plus, Fisher may not be back next season. I don't think he is going to try and draft a future QB if he isn't part of the Titans' future, ya dig?

We really don't want to waste a pick on him. Too many issues.

    Thanks I'll take a look.

I think his intelligence being questioned has mostly to do with internet forums who here his southern accent. His speech is straight out of the country, and that can be confused with intelligence. But if you actually listen to what he is saying, he sounds like a pretty smart person.

Hopefully we don't pass him up because of something as small as character concerns...

The only reason I say we will avoid him is because we just got rid of a QB who's biggest problem was his character. It would be awfully hypocritical of the front office if they went out and drafted someone with well known character concerns.

I go to school with Ryan. Those that don't want him because of his "issues" are mistaking. I was spoiled watching him play for two years, I would love to be spoiled for more.

    Draft him!

All I could find on Mallett was a public intoxication charge which he pleaded guilty too. Nothing on crack or cocaine or any other drug he was rumored to take. And nothing on him being a jackarse off the field or anything against his character. Seems like its all speculation.

After reading a few articles I'm even more convinced this is the guy for this team. It seems like he has a nice support system around him, hes got enough swagger to be a winner, and hes definitely physically equiped.

    DRAFT MALLETT!!!

I just don't know if he'll be left at #8 after the combine.

    That's what I'm afraid of.

Luck staying at Stanford might ultimately screw us over.

    looking at the top 7..

    Carolina
    Denver
    Buffalo
    Cincinnati
    Cleveland
    Arizona
    San Francisco

Arizona and San Fran are the only ones I can see taking a QB...hopefully they really like Newton and Locker
