    Worst coach ever? No.

A coach who's worse than Fisher? I'd say there's a good chance of that.

i suppose he has at times... but i also remember how norm got fired (plus he did it over the phone), he didnt really go to bat with floyd ( actually been stories that he did him wrong on that one) the whole rb coach situation was retarded too.

    0-6 sucked.

Becoming the new Raiders and having an insane owner and an endless string of crappy coaches and bad players who get special treatment would be far, far worse.

The Titans are on the brink of something that could make 0-6 look like paradise. This franchise is close to becoming the laughingstock of the NFL. An owner choose a quarterback (and not even a good one) over the recommendations of his entire front office staff is not something to cheer for.

I will say it again since people don't seem to understand me:

I am okay with Jeff Fisher being fired, as long as Young goes too. Start from scratch and build this team the right way.

I am not okay with Jeff Fisher getting fired and Vince Young staying. You can't force Vince on the new coach. That is a recipe for disaster.

I have a bad feeling this isn't going to be resolved in a timely fashion. I hope I'm wrong though.

I think the big mistake most national media guys (and and some fans) are making in this whole deal is they are only looking at is as "Fisher vs. Young". There are bigger issues at play than some stupid spat after the Washington game that led to childish behavior from both parties. Everyone who follows the Titans closely knows this. There's the 6 game losing streaks in back-to-back seasons. There's... well I'm not going to go into all of it because it's been discussed ad nauseam. Suffice it to say both Jeff and Vince have done plenty over the years to warrant being on the hot seat right now. It's not merely about "picking Vince over Jeff" or vice versa. At least it shouldn't be. Bud should simply be evaluating the state of his franchise and its personnel. Same as every other year.

The media is making it out like it's all about VY and Fish not getting along. Because that's the more interesting story than saying that Jeff Fisher got himself into this position with his constant failures.

Now, I'm not saying the VY vs. Fish angle doesn't have any credibility. It's obvious that the two can't/won't coexist anymore. It's just getting extremely overplayed IMO. I can already see it... Fish gets canned and all the headlines say "Idiot Bud Chooses Vince over Fisher" "Titans Owner Makes Huge Mistake"

I fully believe that if Fisher is gone and VY stays then 2011 will be VY's last year with the team unless he just plays lights out and meshes wonderfully with the new coach. Fish getting fired is not going to set this team back years upon years as many would leave you to believe.

    Here's my problem with this...

In the last 2 years the only times the Titans have looked like an exciting and good team is when VY was QB. When it was Fisher and Collins we looked like crap.

So couldn't it be argued that sticking with Fisher (and likely Collins) would make 2009 look like paradise?

We are not going to become the new Raiders. The notion is utter nonsense.

I somewhat agree with this, but I'll add that VY being given free pass after free pass will set the franchise back years.

When you don't hold your players accountable for their actions and you set the precedent that you can get your coach fired if you cozy up to the senile owner, you become as bad as the Raiders.

But this isn't even close to true.

The last time the Titans truly looked like a team that could compete for a Super Bowl was in 2008 and Vince was riding the bench.

2009 doesn't count because everyone had written off the Titans and Chris Johnson was having a season for the ages (helped by Vince, I agree). At no point in 2009 did the Titans look like a playoff team.

The only point in 2010 when the Titans truly looked like an elite team was when they were beating up on the Eagles. Young wasn't the QB in that game. All those early season wins were a mirage. We all see now that this team is not good.

You are also framing this issue as if it's Young vs. Collins. Both are bad. The answer is a 3rd party.

And a new coach, too, probably.
