I picked him up as a flex player in fantasy football this week. I have like 6 guys on byes... didn't realize I would have this problem. The Bucs play the Cardinals, and I expect a breakout game for Blount.

Yeah, I want to win now. If a player can't help the Titans be better NOW, I want him inactive or on the practice squad. That's where Blount would be here.

I can't believe the Blount love. He didn't show any better than a guy the Titans pulled in off the street after S. Johnson went down during the preseason.

The Titans wanted to upgrade a clear problem in coverage and they did it. The same people critical of the Titans for letting a undrafted free agent go would be racking Fisher over the coals if special teams were giving up big returns like they did most of the preseason.

Very good points. Blount might end up being a decent NFL back and maybe even a starter. So what? We aren't lacking at RB and Blount certainly wasn't an upgrade to Ringer. So even if he is good he won't play as Jeff said. Heck, maybe Johnson can come back next year and stay healthy and we can forget about Blount because I think Johnson is better.

So far, it's been the right decision easily for the Titans. They've gotten significant special teams production from those guys, which has led to significant special teams improvement. Blount, if on the team at this point, would have done absolutely nothing. Yes, if CJ goes down on Sunday, Blount would have helped us. Then again, if CJ goes down for significant time this season, I think we'd all agree that we have big problems. Quite frankly, I'm really happy with Ringer so far.

Having a guy on the practice squad sure doesn't hurt the team now- and possibly makes us better in the future. Where's the logic here?

lmao... are you talking about Gado? He had like 1 good showing. And he did better than Chris Johnson too- if you want to throw that card out there.
Where is Gado now? He'll NEVER start for anyone. Blount will. Get it?

Like the did in most of the preseason or most the last 5 seasons? Lets pretend some guy no ones ever heard of magically made our STs unit better overnight. Riiggght.

BY THE WAY.... we're DEAD LAST in kick return yards allowed.

So yeah, we clearly made the right choice. We're 15th in punt coverage. That's middle of the pack. Again, nothing to give this coaching staff praise over nor the bum we let Blount walk for.

We get it, you love Blount. That's wonderful, but he wouldn't have made any contribution here at this point.

If you really think that we haven't seen special teams improvement, you haven't been watching the games. Look back at that article about our relative starting spots for drives and the points that we've gotten off them. Did you not see the forced and recovered fumble on the punt on Sunday? Oh yeah, Shaw recovered it. 25 tackles on special teams is better than some awesome reps on the practice squad or no appearances as a game day inactive.

He's talking about Stafon Johnson, Genious. Remember the guy who was doing great in camp and busted his leg? If healthy, he could've stayed and played special teams too.

The rap on Blount is that he's only a 1st and 2nd down back. He's got stone hands, doesn't catch the ball well and is lousy at picking up blitzes.....plus he can't play special teams.

While I am not talking about the linebackers we got why in the world did we keep Mouton over Blount

    I agree.

Why has the whole argument become "our best special team players wouldn't be here if we signed Blount!"?

It should be pretty clear that we could use a power/goal line back to complement CJ. EVEN IF you don't care about CJ and want to run him into the ground and not re-sign him, I don't trust him THIS SEASON to always make the hard run.

I would have been happy with Blount on the PS. The Titan didn't get the opportunity.

lmao... Blount has a long way to go before he even sniffs Gado's NFL stats. Gado was brought in because he was a solid special teams player. That's what you want with your #3. He would have, at least, contributed. Blount would have taken up a roster spot, been inactive on gameday and special teams suffer for it.

Where did you find your stats?

Pro Football Weekly says we give up an average of 5.9 yards in punt returns which ranks sixth in the league. On kickoffs, the Titans give up an average of 27.4 (on 28 returns) which is tied for 26th.
