Are you dense? He didn't just "lob it up". The play was designed to bring the safety up. It worked exactly as designed. There wasn't more coverage brought to the play, but less. The safety was sitting on Britt's route and needed to be suckered into stepping forward. If Vince throws to Kenny "in the first place" the safety is all over it for an interception.

I think we all can agree that looking off defenders has not been VYs strong-point. It obviously is something that Dinger and Fish have been wanting to see from him, and at this point in his career you could argue that this is maybe the single most important thing for him to master. He's gotten much better with his mechanics. He's making better reads, looking downfield and being more patient standing in the pocket. If he can keep this up - knowing where defenders are, and what he can do to get them out of position - he could finally have his McNair-like turnaround as a passer.

A couple throws here and there won't silence the debate. If he does it all season keeping the TD:INT we will all breath a bit easier. Definitely a good sign. Now if we can just keep Britt on the field...

Agree to disagree. I've been in enough QB/WR meetings to understand exactly what was going on. Dead giveaway was the fact Dinger was surprised, Offensive Coordinators are NEVER surprised.

So many people here are against VY that they think he was intending that throw to Scaife?

    Geez.

Apparently not enough meetings to understand that Britt wasn't open until the safety bit down.

    Kinda sad isn't it?

Anyway, negative anti-Vince BS aside, anybody else notice how his speech has improved when he is dealing with the media?

He looks waaaaay comfortable compared to last year and he actually expounds a little more when talking about the games instead of saying "and things like that."

If you look at video from last year and then take the interview from yesterday, the difference is drastic.

Let's end the VY to Britt argument.
Both VY and Fisher said Britt was the target.

    http://blogs.tennessean.com/titans/2010/10/14/young-td-pass-intended-for-britt/
Vince Young says wide receiver Kenny Britt was indeed his intended target on the 12-yard touchdown pass that gave the Titans a 17–3 lead over Dallas last week.

CBS analyst Phil Simms said immediately after the play that he believed Young was actually throwing for tight end Bo Scaife, and that Young was fortunate to have the ball drop into Britt’s hands behind Scaife.

    Not so, says Young.

"For the record, I was throwing to Kenny," Young said. "Most of the time there’s one safety (in the area) and we’re not supposed to get that back part of the end zone. But I looked at Bo, so he could come up so I could get that throw.

"Everybody’s askin’ me that, but that was pretty much the read. (Offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger) gave me a good (compliment) about that because he knows how I use my eyes, but he’d never seen me use my eyes like that before."

Said Coach Jeff Fisher: "I knew the play call. The design is to go over Bo. It was the same one he threw in New York. The same exact play. Throw over Bo, based on the coverage. Bo holds the coverage and it goes to Kenny in the back of the end zone.

"I don’t think Phil saw practice, nor did we have a production meeting with him outside a conference call we had on Tuesday. Granted he probably watched some tape, but he must not have watched the Giants game."
